Seeing it after having seen Buffy, How I Met Your Mother, Firefly, and a bit of Nathan Fillion's Castle show, it was pretty cool to see. The thing is teeming with Joss-isms: the musical routines like "Once More With Feeling," the trademark humor, the tragic romance that has an ironic (but totally predictable) twist ending, and of course, inverting the common genre tropes. The hero of the narrative is the supervillain, and the villain of the narrative is the superhero.
Some people seem to think it's a stroke of genius though, I think those people are overselling it a little. But it's pretty cool for what it is, especially considering they basically worked on it for free and put it out there on the web for free. At least I think they did. I saw a video on Youtube, I don't know if it was originally free or not.
