here is a video i made using ai of buffy and angel

sources say we're only a few years from being able to render our own 40 minute episodes of new buffy episodes with the original actors faces.

That idea of that is quite terrifying. However, I imagine celebrities will start to trademark their likeness in that case, so as to prevent it to appear in projects they do not consent to

its predicted that in a few years fans will be able to buy 'likeness rights' in the form of digital face packs of their favourite stars to make videos etc

And of course that isn't going to stop people from using them, without buying such rights, in ways that the people in question would definitely not appreciate.

Yeah, but I think anyone with a brain can tell what's AI and what's real right?

Honestly, it's become extraordinarily difficult to tell the difference these days. I've been working a lot with A.I. recently, and it can do things that I never imagined.

And yes, it IS super creepy. I predict that soon there will be A.I. laws, because there's SO much people can "create." If someone can use A.I. to make a photo/video of an ex-lover, a person they don't like at their job, or whoever....it will totally get out of hand. Just you watch.

I for one can't wait for Disney to allow the 'likenesses' to be used for fan content.

I'd love to be able to prompt AI to make new buffy episodes with the orginal actors....

just think of the possibilities!

PS. Disney recently released the likenesses rights to over 200 actors from their catalogue, but despite owning the rights to Buffy the Buffy cast was not part of their list.

Go ahead and do it. Maybe start with a scene or two? I think everyone should answer the call of A.I. now, before it becomes regulated (or whatever).

Do it! I dare you. 😋

Before AI, some Star Trek fans made their own content--even got one or more of the classic actors to participate--and were sued. I imagine the precedent will hold for AI (though the copyright owners will happily use AI to burn actors and writers themselves). Unfortunately, the winners went on to make Slop Trek rather than copying the success of fanmade content.

And I've seen AI far superior to what cynical suits put out and AI is superior. I mainly hold that as a fault of the execs filled with ego, cynical formulas and games (such as it's easier to insure a movie that's a reboot so reboots are more popular), and even hostility to a franchise more than AI is superior. But I do keep up with one Star Wars AI that is essentially animating the novels (making a few minor differences here and there) that came after Lucas's movies (and before Disney), at least for as long as they can keep getting away with it.

It probably depends on at least a couple of other factors. For one, just because you own the rights to a show doesn't necessarily mean you own the actors' image rights. For another, Disney are not the only rights owner when it comes to Buffy.

Yeah, Disney recently went on a YouTube rampage and got a whole bunch of stuff taken down. There were these stormtrooper vlogs that kept coming up in my feed.
