As a Bangel, how do you feel about the inevitable Spuffy ILY?

So here it is for anyone who would like to see it and have any pertinent corresponding emotional responses.

Why is Buffy's hair styled a bit like the one out of The Hunger Games played by Natalie Dormer?

As I predicted it, I don’t care much. I always knew it was going to happen. The comics have been pro-spuffy since the beginning and I’m not really a fan of the way they are writing Buffy in general (I’m also thinking it might have to do with how much SMG is Buffy for me) so I take what I enjoy from them and leave out the rest.

You are so much more mature about this than me. I apparently have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. 🙂

Well, it's a good thing that I like blueberry scones, and appreciate your use of the quote.
Wow. That was actually a nice scene. Maybe my opinion of the comics have changed. That was well done.

I don't think they have either. Certainly Angel has not fallen out of love with Buffy. And in Season 10 she appears conflicted on her feelings about him.

I kinda feel this way too and it's bothersome. Like if she says the words it will mean something, a "letting go" of sorts? I feel like there is a part of her that has been holding back on other relationships since Angel. And then also, narritavely if she says ILY to Spike it would be STUPID for her to go back to Angel. If she some how stopped herself from saying it, for some internal conflicted reason then maybe I could stomach a reunion but what I don't want to see is:

Buffy: I love you, Spike.
::spike dies::
Buffy and Angel reunite, Buffy: I love you, Angel.

Because no, Angel is no one's consolation prize.

Can you be in love with more than one person at a time....? I think you can love many people in your life but in different ways. I have been in relationships where I felt a deep affection and a love but being "in love" is quite different and I can't imagine being "in love" with two different people. Never has been my personal experience.

I have a friend who reads the comics (he is not into the online fandom), but he was telling me that to him Season 10 "old demons" when Buffy told Angel she was with Spike and they hugged at the end was the final goodbye for the Buffy/Angel arc. And I argued with him on this until I was blue in the face lol. I wonder if any of you all who read the comics felt that way?

Unless of course, you are an evil little troll man named Joss Whedon. LOL.

Can we all agree that the buffy from the first four seasons NEVER in a million years would have dated Spike or someone like him? Whedon only brought Spike back and put him with Buffy because Spike's fans threw a shit storm about it until whedon gave in.

I agree with the person above who said that you don't spend three seasons setting up a relationship as beautiful and timeless as Bangel to just suddenly drop it for something like Spuffy.

Yes, people can have a relationship that surpasses all past ones. Willow is the best example of this because no one can deny that Tara is her one and only. Tara surpassed Oz and no one after her (yes, I'm talking about Kennedy and even Aluwyn) can compare to her. But Willow is a special case...

With Buffy, Spike did Not surpass Angel. Angel went to hell for hundreds of years where he suffered for Buffy because she sent him there and when he returned, he still loved her. Spike getting his soul has Nothing on this. Meanwhile, Spike is stealing Buffy's underwear and trying to rape her... Sorry but it's the truth...

Can we all agree that never in a million years would Buffy be ok with that hair?!!

(I don't have anything against the style per se, just that it's not Buffy)

She didn’t choose that style her hair was burned and that’s what you get. But the old Buffy would have worn a little beanie 🙂 I miss the old Buffy 🙁

I love beanie Buffy!

Other than that, despite my show-related preferences I don't really have a horse in this race but I will say... there, there *pats all of you on the shoulder*, it'll pass.
My horsie and I will stay in our nice warm show-centric stable, content to observe this strange mix of elation and grief from a safe distance.

So I've a query related to the spoiler. Who are the other people on the balcony? Xander, Willow, Dawn and Giles I assume... who the other chick?

Eyes on the road, please! :) :) :)
All of comic!Buffy is pod!Buffy. That hasn't changed.

It's lightweight Spuffy fanfiction with nothing but happily ever afters. They don't even try to hide it. Nothing else happens to the characters except to service that. They'll probably marry them, despite the fact that everything Angel said to Buffy in Bad Eggs and The Prom applies to them, too. And they won't ever even discuss it. Because they never have tragic twists of fate or even difficulties thrown at them now.

The Angel comic is treated like an afterthought now and it certainly has never featured much of Angel Investigations beyond one arc. I miss IDW. That was when Angel mattered. The worst thing to ever happen was when Dark Horse got the Angel rights, only to piss on him, his team and the fanbase; essentially, to eliminate the competition and AtS as a viable part of the franchise.

To me it just feels so insincere, their entire relationship always has.
They were fun as frenemies, and even could have been enjoyable to watch as friends and co-fighters against demons.

But this, just no.
So weirdly casual too. "Btw, I didn't forget I love you too." -WEIRD

This "I love you" is even worse than the first time they tried to make her say it.

She may love him because of all the time they have spent together, but I still highly doubt she is in love with him.
Just compare this "I didn't forget y'know" . "I love you too"
to when Buffy and Angel told each other they loved each other in Surprise
Angel: "I love you. I try not to, but I can't stop."
Buffy: "I know, I can't either." She says with tears in her eyes.
These two physically cannot stop loving each other. They have tried time and time again and fail miserably every time. They know it's wrong, but they just can't help themselves.
Comparing this heart felt scene to a by the way I love you too, has nothing on it.

At this point Joss is writing fanfic for Spuffy fans because for some reason beyond my understanding more people ship toxic Spuffy compared tobtimeless, heartfelt Bangel.

I'm not really bothered by the ILY that much, even if Buffy does love Spike now, it doesn't remotely replace or hold a candle to what she felt for Angel. I don't think Buffy could ever love like she did in the early seasons again. What we were seeing in the later seasons and in the comics is new Buffy, and new Buffy's way of loving. I hate what Buffy's become but some love it.

I will stick to Bangel. I am forever glad that I don't read the comics if this what is in them.
