I think it was kind of obvious someone was indulging their own fantasies in that season...The poor guy's wardrobe that season (6) basically consisted of nothing. It wasn't healthy for him, that weight loss.
Oh, definitely.I think it was kind of obvious someone was indulging their own fantasies in that season...
James on set: I'm cold!NotASlayer He must have been really cold sometimes!
I agree, it was hard to see, he and buffy were like the bonettes. you know if they were like a 50s do-wop band. The poor guy's wardrobe that season (6) basically consisted of nothing. It wasn't healthy for him, that weight loss.
Also I know we have discussed before how much thinner Sarah got as the seasons progressed too.
Joss also told him to prepare because of upcoming storylines in s5 (and 6) and I think that also contributed to James losing weight. The grueling, stressful work days likely contributed to James weight loss in that season.

James is 15 years older than Sarah. And Sarah was about 20 when the show began, playing a 16 year old (I believe) so not a huge gap.i love the whole package... actor, character everything. Nope I don't like the bad things Spike does and no i don't like 'bad boys' but I'm partial to smart, sassy men and partial to thin, tight bodied men and I find Spike's character arc very satisfying.
I don't like big doughboys. I can see big handsome men are big and handsome but they do nothing for me.
JM is a great actor with a great body who plays a very interesting character. Spike is quick witted, funny and dynamic and he's got an amazing ability to say all sorts of very hot sexual stuff with his mouth without saying a word... His face is extremely expressive, his body is expressive... that's all on JM.
But yes, I find the character fun too. He's a bit over the top at times and when he's wicked, I don't like it anymore than I like Angelus. But Spike is an iconic character. No, I'm not terribly fond of the bleach either and I imagine it must have been painful to do for so long.
I do think light hair actually does look good on JM. Even if it's grey. 😺
As for him being too thin in the series... You do realize he was playing a character that was supposed to be almost half his actual age... he had to work out hard to not look ridiculously older than his character. he's 20 years older than Sarah who is quite a bit older than the character she plays. They're supposed to be not that far apart in age. By 2002 he's 40 playing an approximately 25 year old. He had no choice but to work out and stay as tight in the body as he could.
It's why he said he could not come back to the show as Spike if there was a revival. He rightly felt he was too old. You can see it in recent pictures. he looks good, but he doesn't look like a young man. He's nearly 62
Wish we'd had more time and character development with Robin Wood. It was a pleasant bonus he is very nice to look at. 😉The punk look with the bleached hair, boots and all was never my thing. That's the kind of thing you're into when you're in high school, but I wasn't into that even back then. Josh Holloway in Lost pulls off the sexy blonde bad boy thing much more convincingly, with his superior facial features and charisma.
Angel and Wood though... 😊
