Question does anyone else ship cordelia and faith

I suppose there are different types of maturity.
For example in S3 Buffy and Faith are both more self-reliant than Cordelia; both have been able to live and survive on their own without adult supervision; Buffy in LA between Seasons 2 and 3 and Faith alone in her motel.
Cordelia is barely scraping by in Season 1 of Angel because she HAS to become an actress and is puzzled as to why it isn't happening 'right away'; that's not exactly self-aware or mature. She's unaware of how bad an actress she is. Also she's a slob. 😛

I think Cordelia has a certain emotional maturity and honesty when it comes to how she sees the world and how things are, but again she is startlingly unaware of some of her own character flaws; hubris for one.


Anyway, this is off-topic. I don't think Cordelia ever thought about Faith in any way... apart from maybe being jealous of her hair care and putting her down to make herself feel better (insecurity- not mature) but then again she does the same exact thing to Buffy all the time.

Cordelia and Faith wont work out just like buffy and Faith doesnt work out because Cordelia is just like buffy. How about Kennedy and Faith-Fennedy/Kaith?

But if Cordy was already fully mature, she would never have changed...but she kept growing, because she wasn't mature. Thinking you're all that and not looking at yourself critically isn't mature, it's actually very immature.
 
Not really vibing this pairing. I feel 100% confident in saying that Cordy only likes men in a sexual way, so that would not go well for Faith...

As for the off topic maturity topic.. I don't remember the episode or Cordy's exact words but she told Buffy something a long the lines of "I pretend to be this mean popular girl because it's what they (as in Harmony and the other mean girls) expect me to be. It's easier to hide the pain this way." I am hella paraphrasing, but basically Cordy was admitting that this is a persona she puts on for others and for herself. She is actually breaking on the inside so she pretends to be this vapid person so she doesn't get hurt. So yeah, she actually is very insecure in her own skin until AtS. But, she does have a blunt honesty about her in the sense of just telling the scoobies how it is. But, if the reasoning behind her maturity is self-acceptance then I'm pretty sure this entire scene contradicts that reasoning...

Cordelia : (exhales) Bummer for her. It's awful to feel that lonely.

Buffy: Hmm. So you've read something about the feeling?

Cordelia: (stops Buffy) Hey! You think I'm never lonely because I'm so
cute and popular? I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone.
It's not like any of them really know me. I don't even know if they like
me half the time. People just want to be in a popular zone. Sometimes
when I talk, everyone's so busy agreeing with me, they don't hear a word
I say.

Buffy: Well, if you feel so alone, then why do you work so hard at
being popular?

Cordelia: Well, it beats being alone all by yourself.

This is the same episode where she tries to thank the scoobies at the end and when her friends come up and call them losers, she agrees and walks off laughing. This is the point i was trying to make earlier. She's not really confident and mature, or secure in herself. She literally cannot stand on her own feet in the first few seasons of Btvs. She needs the validation and popularity being the queen of mean gives her. It's only when she's exposed to the scoobies and actually dates Xander does she begin to evolve...then her journey towards self worth continues in AtS.

She is a blunt girl, and she has no problem being honest. She calls it like she sees it, even if it's rude or nasty. Honestly I think that's just her personality, and not really a mark of how mature she is.
