Buffy’s Drusilla Never Even Auditioned. Producers Saw Her in ‘Ed Wood’ and Offered Her the Vampire Role Almost on the Spot​

The story of how Juliet Landau landed one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s most memorable villains skips a step most actors never get to skip: the audition.

According to fans, Landau — who played the unhinged vampire Drusilla on Buffy — never auditioned for the part. Producers reportedly saw her in Tim Burton’s Ed Wood and offered her the vampire role almost on the spot.

There’s a fitting bit of Hollywood lineage here, too. Juliet Landau is the daughter of Martin Landau, the acclaimed actor who himself starred in Ed Wood. Fans have pointed out how well she fit the part, joking that casting her as a vampire was inspired given her pedigree — that she’s “basically Dracula’s daughter.”

I wonder if they even created the role for her once they saw her! Her father may have played Dracula, but I will always think of him in connection with "Space: 1999."

She is an awesome actor, who brought one of my favourite characters to life so to speak. Whatever made them hire her i am glad and also not surprised. Both her parents were seriously talented actors. Not surprised she is carrying on the family tradition.
