I know! I'm in the minority when it comes to the character of Kate Lockley but hear me out. Kate was a great character on Angel in her run.
I know most people think she was a "cheap knock off of Buffy" which I didn't get. I loved having Kate show a human aspect to the show. The police is something that Buffy rarely ever dealt with so it was cool to have a police officer on the show first of all. Kate had an interesting backstory too
She lost her mother early on and had a terrible father who didn't show her enough love and appreciation who she lost too. She had to disconnect from her emotions a lot.
Kate had a black and white view of the world and that was shaken up when she found out Angel was a vampire.
Sense and Sensitivity proved what a badass strong woman Kate was and she made it a great episode of Season 1.
Now I understand that after her dad died. Kate becoming a thorn in Angel's side wasn't her most perfect moments but with all her backstory and more. Kate has no idea what to believe in the world anymore.
Kate attempting to commit suicide was her trying to escape reality as her obsession with the supernatural world had become deeper and deeper which makes sense.
How would all you react knowing that your demons and vampires exist after being told all your life they're made up? I bet most of you would be just as stunned as Kate.
Kate's last dialogue with Angel was perfect as she left forgiving Angel and realizing there's higher powers in the fight to darkness and I so wish Kate had been able to come back for further Angel seasons and I think she is still a great Angel character and I will always root for Kate Lockley.

I like Kate, and the idea of working with a police officer. I don't think Kate was utilized well though. And I didn't like her relationship with her father. Or her hate against Angel.

I would have liked her to come back as well. I wish the show would have stayed with the noir detective theme.

I did not like Kate's hate against Angel whatsoever!!!
I wish that never had happened. But Kate really did think Angel was responsible for killing her father whether you had a good relationship or not with your parent, you still would feel the same way as she did if your last living parent died.
Kate has trouble expressing her emotions and she took her dad's death out on Angel. She wasn't right but that's what I love about Kate she's not perfect.

I actually would have liked Kate's anger with Angel if it would have paid off with her in Justine's role. That would have been so good. I couldn't help imagining her in that role while watching Season 3 recently, and that whole arc would have just cut so much deeper, I think, given all her history with the AI team. I did like the way they wrote Kate out in Epiphany, though.

Wow Kate instead of Justine, I like!

I honestly loved her ending in Epiphany and it's funny how that wasn't supposed to be her ending at all but it turned out great.
Also I loved seeing her return in the comics too!!!
