Im doing a dissertation on whether Buffy is a good representation of feminism or not and i need as many responses as possible. Answers posted, not a bad questionnaire though I did find it biased towards Buffy being a feminist icon, wish you'd have asked better questions.
 
Where in the UK are you applying? I've been an admissions tutor and I've never known a uni ask for a completed diss as an entry requirement (if mine did then I missed it. I didn't say I was a GOOD admissions tutor 😉). Is it part of an A'level (or a Bacc)?

That aside, it's a very well written survey - I've seen much worse from final year undergraduates (I presume you have a supervisor?). I haven't completed it because my own ideas on BtVS are informed by post structuralist (so-called French feminists), often an uneasy fit with liberal understandings of "Feminist". However - I'm really pleased to see this: "In the final episode, Buffy rewrites history" because I consider it absolutely central. If I find a way of answering your questions without writing my own (convoluted and confusing) essay in response I will do.

I just submitted my response and I hope you can read the parts that you have to scroll through. I should add one thing: before I retired, I was a consultant to a company with a customer that was a woman-owned business (and therefore got preferential treatment from her US government customer). She was extremely ambitious and intelligent and backed it up with hard work and an opportunistic mindset, but never raised the topic of feminism. Similarly, I have dealt with a number of female engineers and I can divide women into two categories: those who complain about how unfair life is and those who accomplish something and I never heard these engineers complain.

The most remarkable example of this was Sally Ride. I was next to her in the cafeteria at Spar Aerospace where she was training to use the Remote Manipulator System simulator (the Canadarm used on the shuttle) and other than her blue spacesuit, she would have been the invisible woman. She would have made an excellent Marcie Ross. As well as intelligence and fitness, the characteristic she had the most of was patience - you had to when you were operating the Canadarm. If you know the feel of a nice tool like a good soldering station or a good torque wrench, this was the opposite. The most annoying piece of equipment I have ever operated (if only the simulator). But she broke the glass ceiling at NASA. And her personal life was like Willow's - she was married for a few years then divorced and took up with another woman who she met when they were both on the pro tennis circuit.
