She also said Angel #1 is really the second part of Buffy #1.
She said they're exploring the concept of "found family" in this. And it seems like this is made with the fans in mind, not really trying to target people who are new to the Buffyverse. They start with a big comic event and then the rest of the issues are the ramifications of that.
