Mantis/Insectoids & other "REAL" Monsters

Did any of you guys see how the government apparently has recovered extraterrestrial life? It's insane how this is news yet so many people dismiss it or don't care either way. They say the "alien" beings they have evidence of are Greys, Nordics, Reptilians (I've always believed in these) and INSECTOIDS. As soon as I saw this, I thought of the she-mantis in 'Teachers Pet'. I just think it's highly unlikely that they made this episode out of left field, like it was just someones crazy idea to make a giant preying mantis? I always thought this was one of the more far-fetched monsters on the show but this news made me re-calibrate my assumptions about what is real (or possibly real) and what's definitely not... like the "loan shark" guy in Tabula Rasa is most likely not a real thing 😆 but the giant preying mantis in 'Teachers Pet' is apparently legitimate? Do you guys believe this?? It's so insane.

What else do you think might be real? Witches are real. I believe Ghosts are real. Vampires are real but not in the Hollywood movie sense- they are people who drink blood in an effort to stay young. I also think demons are real so who knows of all the kinds shown on Buffy which ones could be realistic. I've never been a big believers in werewolves though but I do believe in shape shifters so it's a long the same line. I also think it is highly likely there are a lot of things deep down in the ocean that we don't know about.... maybe like the creature from the black lagoon/swim team monsters? What else?

My favorite statement on aliens is from a random Internet poster "I believed aliens were real, until the government told me they were."

Things I'm actually concerned about.

1. Ghosts: See, I think they are something as opposed to nothing, but I don't think they are shades of the dead. Part of the human experience, but not enough information to understand.
2. Skinwalkers: The only thing I'm actually afraid of, but then again, staying out of the South West at night seems easy enough. I mean, at the very least, drugged up Indian looking for a human sacrifice.
3. Bigfoot: Again, something, as opposed to nothing. There are some footprints that cannot be dismissed as having been created by known animals or hoaxed. There's definitely a pattern for a viable creature. However, there's a lack of evidence in the way of hair et alt for it.
4. Other Cryptids: I think evidence/room exists for Orang Pendak, British Big Cat and Luska. I don't think others have merit. This doesn't apply to extinction reconsidered.
5. UFOs: Something. Same goes with abductions. I sleep better when it becomes nothing.

Yes I do consider ghosts to be real, I have seen that many of them, to think otherwise would be silly. Yet of all the ghosts I have seen none of them were scary, it was only my opinion of them that brought about the term scary: Seeing a burning skull in a tree accompanied by the whispers of a hundred voices was what I'd refer to as scary. That was on the approach pathway to where some of the Kings guards had chased then killed a dozen or so monks.
I do consider UFO's to be real, to say otherwise would be to say that various air forces from around the world are run by thicko's and liars.

On Alien life, basically I think aliens do exist, but I'm not sure they have visited Earth. I mean, the Galaxy is huge and they could be anywhere. If they can reach Earth, they are more technologically advanced than us. So why bother coming here? I mean, sure they could have crash landed here on the way somewhere else, it is possible. But abductions? Not buying it. Just doesn't seem logical. Why would they bother?

Ghosts I would lean towards believing in though not sure there is cast iron evidence. I have seen some videos that seem convincing. And I've heard stories from people I trust. Overall, leaning towards yes. I also do believe there are evil spirits, demons if you like, and that they can possess people.

As for cryptids and hominids and other funky creatures, honestly I don't know enough about them to really say.

There is some basic engineering that says an insectoid could not look the same as a smaller version of an insect. If you lengthen an arm or leg bone, you have to make it wider if you want to be able to handle the same stress and stress has the same dimensions as pressure, like pounds per square inch. Some things are not going to scale linearly, where every dimension changes by the same multiple. The weight of the animal is going to go up by the cube of any linear dimension but the cross-section of the leg only goes up by the square of the dimension, so the bone has to become thicker than the increase in linear dimension. A giant praying mantis would have "elephant legs" because that is the only way the body could be supported. A human-sized mantis would be easy to fight if the proportions were the same as the normal insect - just break its overstressed legs.

I definitely believe when you die your spirit lives on. I've seen too much to not believe this. As for aliens, it seems rather self absorbed to think we're the only intelligent life in the universe.

Honestly, we could probobly have a whole thread about our paranormal experiences. I've had many.

Which does lead to the famous question, where the heck are they? Even at sublight speeds, a civilisation could colonise the entire galaxy in a "mere" few million years, yet we haven't detected any sign of such in any galaxy we can see.

One of the more believable and worrying concepts is that of the Great Filter where civilisations destroy themselves prior to that. Such as, for instance, developing the technology to wipe themselves out without the maturity to know how stupid it would be to use it. Exhibit A, humans.
