Hey all!

I personnaly love Angelus and know a lot of you guys do too! I was wondering if you would have liked more Angelus in Btvs and Ats. If so, in what storyline would you had him? Would you create a new one just to have him shine?

Let's discuss!

🙂

If it were up to me it would've gotten a lot darker in Buffy and there'd be no coming back for Angel, but then I'm a horror fan--and more importantly, I'm not a shipper.

But if my preference happened then there never would've been ATS (and that's a drawback even I can admit would hurt) but I didn't really care for Angelus his own show. I wouldn't go so far to say it was bad, but it just did not live up to the potential as it did in Buffy. The only one I kinda like was the season 1 ep where the actress gives him a happy pill...which was kinda cheap (and I willfully overlook the sloppy explanation of how it worked and why it was "only an illusion" and how the gypsies would've kicked themselves for not seeing that as Angel could've easily become a drug addict even centuries ago, something Darla might've even turned him into seeing it in her demonic way as we would giving psyche meds to someone)...but it's decent, and I could comment more on it if I were in the mood.

There wasn't really anymore room on BtVS for Angelus to come back. The only way to get more of him on BtVS would have been to have him turn sooner.
But, I'm very happy with what we got.

I wish there had been more Angelus on Angel. More flashbacks and more present time. But, I want the real Angelus from Buffy and the flashbacks not the weird Angelus we got in s4. I want Angelus done right.

Angelus is a great villain, and I would definitely like to see more of him, but not so much that he becomes commonplace. A brief appearance every couple of Seasons, with maybe a short arc thrown in occasionally would be fine.

I like the idea of Angelus (when released in s4 if AtS) coming over to BtVS and causing all sorts of problems. I like the idea of Angelus facing off with Buffy in S7.

Although he probably would died if that happened lol. And I don’t want Angel to die so...

I don't see how you could have any more Angelus present day. He's too much of a threat. The character would either be ruined or he'd kill a couple main characters.
I cannot however ever get enough Angelus flashbacks. Those are always entertaining scenes. Throw in Spike, Darla, Drusilla, or all of the above and they're even better.

Yes please, give me more flashbacks!!

I could see Angelus going back to Buffy, especially if she is not aware that he is back! I really am a sucker for Buffy and Angelus fights!

I think we got the right amount of Angelus although I agree that we could've done with more flashbacks and he could've been more menacing in Angel Season 4. As another posted stated, he was so chatty and hammy that season whereas in BtVS Season 2 he was truly scary.

Firstly, hi! (I see you're newish!)

Personally, I find Angelus infinitely more interesting than Angel, and I would loved to have seen more of him. I heard that at one point they were considering a spin-off series based on the Fanged Four. That would have been cool.

I think in answer to your question, I prefer Angelus in BtVS. What he did to Buffy made for good television - it was heartbreaking and so relatable and the metaphor was spot-on. and I love all the flashbacks with Angelus.

That said, when he comes back in AtS he is equally terrifying, so it's hard to choose.

A spin-off of the Fang four would have been heaven! I would still watch it now if the actors were not human being who grow older (except for Julie Benz, she still looks the same!)

On the subject of Angelus, I had the theory that he had somehow been split into two beings, one human and the other vampire, during Season 8. He was human in the "After The Fall" arc in the IDW comics, and I thought that it would have been a good plot twist if IDW and Dark Horse had worked out some sort of a deal, where the two titles would eventually cross over. In fact, I still think that that would have been a better way to make Angel the Big Bad in Season 8 than what Joss actually used.

Oh! I love this!!!
Nope. We get Angelus in just the right doses. Better than outstaying his welcome. He's the same kind of flashy evil as Spike. That's entertaining in small doses but gets old pretty quick. If he were a minor character, ala Spike in S2, and also for like 1 Season or half a Season ala S2 Angelus...that's more than enough. Spike's thing stopped working for me when he became a regular. So small doses yes, more than that hell no.

Angelus is very one note, what you see is what you get. Same with Spike. Because they let you know quick what they are all about. Give me Angel any day, one of the most complex characters in the verse that people always call boring because they prefer the flashy, easy fix of someone like Spike.
