You're doing great already! There is a learning curve if you're not familiar with forums. Just find a thread you want to engage in, scroll down and type your reply! Just like I did here. You can also quote people's posts as well as comment on them.

Hey and welcome!! Don't overthink it... It's not too hard to use the board! But if you need help, there are plenty of people here who are willing to help!

Also

If you grab hold of the board with both hands on the lower edge and whack a person in the wrong place (right place), the board might be deemed as being a hardboard.

try not to overthink that.

Welcome to the forum! If you look at other fan forums, you will find that the Buffy Boards forum is more civil and intelligent than most.

Just pick a thread and see if you have anything to add to the discussion. If you do, write it in and check on the responses.
