Yeah, I just started it. I hope the Au version strikes a good balance between the UK and US. I dont really like the late and live UK show at all. I loved the celeb version, mainly for the Chris and Jojo love story šŸ˜

I havent finished BBUS yet, but havent been spoiled surprisingly either.

The Traitors UK has started, I havent finished the first ep yet.

AU traitors cast has been announced - Kirby and AJ from Survivor will be on it šŸ˜€
I like the 4 intruders/late comers, but the sooking over nominating someone is silly! I'd be like we choose you, suck it up.

Richard and George are great tv characters. I like the fat farmer and the derry girl too.

I thought the episodes were rather boring until the late comers arrived. I don’t know if we would signify them as ā€œintrudersā€ per se, because they came pretty early. I’m sure there will be more intruders to come.

However, with 14 housemates and only 7 weeks to go, I wonder how they’re going to get down to a final 5 or so. I can’t remember the final number the public votes on.

I do like that the first eviction was a mix of public and housemate voting. Where the public voted on the nominees for eviction and the nominees decided who to evict. That was a unique twist.

I think Gani rubbed viewers the wrong way up against Zelah. His downfall was being too paranoid and also I think his cultural expressions made him seem harsher than he was.

I do like how the UK housemates can have civil conversations on very harsh topics. I enjoyed the conversation between George and Teja, and then again between Zelah and George. It’s so important to be able to speak civilly about very tough topics, especially political topics. We are in an age where if you believe something completely different than a majority in the room, you’re just piled on. But civil discourse is what actually keeps unity and compromise and betterment for all. No political issue is black and white. There are nuances to every issue. And we need to be able to speak to each other in respectful ways.

I don’t want to get political but it’s interesting to me that the discussion of Nigel Farage and the Reform UK party here on this show is so paralleled to the discussion of Trump and the MAGA faction of the US Republican Party. For her age, Teja is wicked smart, and made great points about the nuances of the rhetoric used by Farage and Reform UK, not discounting George’s opinions but speaking to the use of language and how it affects marginalized people. It’s refreshing to see that these conversations can still exist in some format in reality shows such as Big Brother, and I wish the US producers weren’t afraid of backlash to air it.

Now, I’ve stayed away from Twitter because I’m behind on the show and don’t want to be spoiled, so I haven’t seen how social warriors viewed that segment. But I enjoyed it.

Totally agree! It really starts to get interesting when they are not all kumbaya about it, a true social experiment. It was good to watch the opposing opinions. George is sheltered, and while the others dont agree with his statements, none have said hes a BAD PERSON just because he has those views. It was good to see Teja get passionate as well. I agree that she is smart - especially the way she used her eye balls to buy back good favour with the unpaid.

The Trump/MAGA and Reform UK stuff is all happening on the Australian level too, the world is getting more extreme on both sides with seemingly few in the middle - much like the wealth gap and then later the homelessness discussion we see on BBUK. Gami going first was political too, when you hear the immigration discourse in the UK. It is fantastic to see opposing sides on tv because all sides might not ever hear the other if any side is censored on spaces like these. Gami talking about his marriage was interesting to me as I have never met anyone like that (and probably never will). The US new era casting is very risk adverse, this is a big problem. Variety and Villains make good tv!

It does annoy me when earlier Feysha and Zelah were saying intention matters more than words - and then both end up mad at words. In my experience when asking questions, intention means nothing and the words get attacked, there needs more grace in that. Caroline didnt grow up in the same world, this bit is all a bit out of proportion IMO. This setting does make for big feelings, and its good to see them play out, but its frustrating to watch a slip up get a stern telling off and warning. For that reason I cant see George staying in for long! Someone is going to bait him.

Jennys accent cracks me up! I love the way she speaks, I really like her a lot as a reality character. Im just about to start ep 10 and will probably catch up to the air date today.

The Traitors AU is getting a new host Gretal Killeen! I did suspect she might be returning to TV with her stint on the Amazing Race AU, plenty use that as a launching pad to get back into the space. She was such a darling to watch on the Amazing Race, but I cant help but find myself a little disappointed. I liked our original Traitors host, Rodger, he was suited to the roll. Full cast list here, including Tully from BB and a few more from Survivor as well!

Amazing Race wraps up next week and it has been my favourite season so far. I wish they would fire Beau as the host! So many good hosts on shows have got the axe and hes the worst and hes still there! Luckily the cast made up for it this season. I have a feeling I know who wins it, but all remaining teams have been quality entertainment. Aesha after her ice coffee is totally me!

George is gone. I wonder what he said, but it must have been bad not to air it. BB said conspiracy so it could be anything from Epstien to Aliens. Big Brother truly living up to its name here! Not wrong words or thoughts allowed!

OOOhhh right off Teja now! Talking about putting down dogs cos they poop!
Also a bit suss on those three all voting for Tate just because he wont weigh in politically, that is also a valid political choice! I'd like to see one of those three go, especially after Feyshiola had a meltdown after Cameron used the work "barking". A very common phrase where I am, no racial connotations to it! Just makes me see her as extreme. Zelah constantly centering themselves, but maybe thats just the winners edit.

The boys banter is funny, Marcus going to jail and Tate doing face to face noms. The bitchiness of Sam and Nancy was a crack up and I hope they dont get bullied into submission, but it was an easy vote to put them up.

Im not on Carolines "side" politically, but she is making a point, an 18 year old does not have the life experience, especially one who still shares a bed with her mum and had a job set up for her straight out of school. And then Zelah thinking tequilla = life experience šŸ™„

Its good casting because this stuff is going to evoke emotions in the viewers too - so people are going to engage more and talk about it.

Still loving Jenny, so all over the place and funny, just a cool soul to watch.

I have episodes 8-16 of BBUK in the queue, but my best friend is getting married tomorrow, so it will be this weekend before we catch up. Hubs thinks it's rather boring compared to the US edition. But I'm wondering if maybe there will be more comps to liven it up a bit? I liked the blend of US and international rules with AU's previous series on 7. We do like the public vote. I wish that the US edition would include America as extra votes, since we do live evictions, too. That would make it a little more fun because then the house could potentially split a vote and America would decide who left. Or, housemates could throw "hinky" votes and blame them on America's vote.

Its definitely more bland compared to US, I can crochet more to UK lol Its a bit like listening to a gen Z political podcast really.
Survivor US 49

So glad they had a tribe switch-up, though I wished the remaining Kele could have stuck together. Still, now they are each in a good position, and I'll enjoy seeing the other tribes finally have to start really playing the game.

I wondered what the producers would have done if Sophi had no shoes! It's lucky last night's challenge was water-based. She must have worn Jake's shoes.

Sophie (the other Sophi/e) complained about the food reward. That's gotta be a first! Lucky for her, her tribe didn't win, ha ha!

I'm tired of "Riz-God" going on like some narcissist. But now he has an idol, I suppose we're stuck with him for a while.

I think they should have voted out Jason rather than Matt. I think Matt was willing to work with people, while Jason will stick to his original tribe. I don't think Matt was disloyal, just trying to get something to stick to save himself. Or maybe I just liked his older, hippie vibe!

Same! I liked Matt. I want to see more of the 35-55 age bracket on these shows! I was actually hoping they would take the easy vote and boot Sophi. When she got her shoe back, I thought well she gets to go home with both her shoes, and then they showed Matt failing at the challenge and I realised he was toast. Sophi seems to get an excessive amount of screen time and I find her boring with an annoying voice, so I cant wait for her to go.

Riz is living up to the reality tv stereotype. There is a character like him on every reality show. Hes probably been training for this on tiktok.

BBUK. Oh lawd. I dislike nearly all of these people after seeing this much of them lol. This show really needs more 35-55 year olds too!
Caroline is a twit but shes carrying the drama of show. The only one stirring the pot on purpose, BB needs those types or its a bore. Sam has a good read on Teja, impressionable parrot. Elsa is just a harmless ditz. Im with Jenny, the fawning over each other is physically sickening. Emily and George would have got on well! Nancy was a bit OTT, so that will probably mean more crying if Sam returns. Seems sorta rigged to put a tory, muslim and gay in a room together. But thats what BB is supposed to be.

I like that Survivor US split into 2 tribes. I wish it was like that since day 1. Even with 7, it just adds a different dynamic. And merge will happen soon, so we won’t have boring 3 people tribals any time soon.

We watched episode 8 of BBUK last night. It’s weird going from the US version that does 2 recap episodes (with comps) a week and then a live eviction.. to UK which airs recaps daily. Hubs was like ā€œthis is incredibly boringā€. But I kind of like the nature documentary vibe it has. Watchin human nature in almost real time. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

The Traitors UK ep 1-3. Its all so dramatic šŸ˜‚ It does play better with a professional cast.

Jonathon is an entertaining traitor haha. No tears, yep your name came up. "must have been a recruitment" first when everyone was there at breakfast. I want his collared cape.
Celia is going to get herself murdered. I assume Stephen Fry will stick around a long while with so many still starstruck of him. Joe the rugby player is a bit of a hunk.

I like the voting in this game because you can stick to your guns if you are sure, or go with the group if you are not.

Agreed. Its the original premise of the show and what I think the aussie version is going back to. I find the UK tasks really boring.

Latest promo, airing nov 9. I will probably go hard into it cos my mum is moving away and I will be sad and lonely. Hoping they have a good cast!

Omg I can’t wait for Aussie BB back on 10!

We really need more millennial and Gen X players in all these shows. There’s just something about having more life experience that makes you a bit more authentic on reality television. Also I think Gen Z players care too much about how they will be perceived to really be authentic. They’ve grown up in adolescence with Instafluencers, where Millenials and Gen X found themselves authentically. It’s a whole different way of life and I think it has deeply influenced the casts of reality TV.
Caroline is a twit but shes carrying the drama of show. The only one stirring the pot on purpose, BB needs those types or its a bore.
I was really hoping the start of evictions would have people being less fawning of each other. Some of the tasks have been fun, like the twist of fate and the BB General Hospital. But even the things Sam had to say during that bit didn’t stir anything quite like the secret convo between him and Nancy, and he was a bit harsh and spot on.

Sam has a good read on Teja, impressionable parrot. Elsa is just a harmless ditz. Im with Jenny, the fawning over each other is physically sickening. Emily and George would have got on well! Nancy was a bit OTT, so that will probably mean more crying if Sam returns.
Jenny is the most authentic of the younger ones, so it was interesting that the clear social influencers, Nancy and Sam, would think she was being disingenuous by being a part of everyone’s convos. I think Jenny has it in the bag to win, if she can keep like she has been.

Seems sorta rigged to put a tory, muslim and gay in a room together. But thats what BB is supposed to be.
I’m so excited to see how they get along in that room. This week will be fun! Waiting on tonight’s episode to queue, but won’t be ready until tomorrow after work. After binging a weeks worth in a few days, it will be interesting to watch it almost in real time.

BBUK up to ep 20.
Well, no fireworks in the secret room, everyone seemed to get along lovely. Sam seemed far more mature around those two ladies. Chat BBT has been the best task yet.
100% Farida going flat out, full on, already on Feyshoilas and Tejas bad side haha
Zelah putting Feyshoila in the friendzone hawhawhaw her face gives her away.
Nancy getting her mean girl on. Sam now knows how she is coming across on the outside, so I do wonder how he will navigate this. He's smart enough to still want to win and not jepodise that.

Haha Marcus having a meltdown about his edit. I havent seen intruders being allowed to talk about how housemates are being portrayed on the outside before. Giving Elsa a bit of fight. And Teja acting her age cos someone clocked her. Great tantrums all round!

Yeah I really wonder how, and if, this can be fixed. Probably not. Now BB and Survivor are like a digital detox for some of the Z's but they are so hyperaware of how they might be perceived, it makes for more boring tv. They are either trying to be unproblematic or overly problematic. Jenny is the most genuine of the bunch, I agree. She might have funny opinions, but they are hers! Love her.

Hubs also said this was the best episode yet! I'm glad that the intruders have been allowed to discuss what is being said on the outside because Farida is right. This season has been absolutely boring. And it's the personalities in there. I think the political conversation between Teja and George put up lines in the sand amongst housemates, and so some of the housemates have withdrawn inside themselves to save face.

Farida has a good read on the house. Up to this point, Zelah and Feyisola have been running things because people don't want to come across as going against the transman or the strong-willed black woman. Especially after Caroline's gaff about him "being a girl" and then some other things that have been said about Zelah.

Now, I like both of them, Zelah moreso than Feyisola, but they have caused the rest of the house to be boring. At least Jenny and Caroline have brought the fun up until now.
And really first impressions are whack because I thought Emily would be a dud, but she has clearly taken notes in her time outside the house. She is FUN. And so is Farida. I hope they both shake up the house and continue to make it entertaining. Excited to see noms. Watching noms when I get off work this evening!

LOVED RICHARDS NOMINATIONS! I want to dance with this dude.
I dont see why they all hate tate? Oh he nommed Jenny, thats ok then.
Hahahaha Im tired of the twerking. Good one Marcus.

I like the Fraida doesnt just let herself get steamrolled by others opinions on things. The surrogacy debate is something that really needs the public eye on from an ethical standpoint. Just from personal experience with my family, the child had complications. People sweep those issues under the rug.

Teja forgetting that her reality isnt the only reality. That there is a world outside that will only get what they are fed. And Fey saying for Z to mind Teja proves exactly what the rest of the house is saying about Teja seeking their approval.

Tate will be really surprised if he doesnt go so I would like to see him stay for that reason. The popularity in the house isnt necessarily what the outside world wants to see - but I might be surprised by the vote too if Feyshoila stays.

Survivor 49
Savanah said the famous last words...
Nate and MC bonding was cute. Their level heads are a nice change of pace.
Different challenge for once, but it hurts my back. Jeff must be pretty fit too, to run on that sand. I'd be dead after 3 steps lol Did Riz say "money" when he took a shot? haha, I guess new era is his era.

I hope they kill the rooster and not an egg laying chicken. Im watching this off the back of the Amazing Race 37 where one of the contestants was milking a sheep and said "Good little boy or girl".... If you dont know what you are milking - that is a problem! I could kill the rooster, no worries, but I dont want to do the plucking! Also annoying that is the hardest thing they will ever have to do in their life, can I swap lives pls? Maybe thats why I get so frustrated with the new era - the gap is too far from here. Where as plenty of the Aussies have harder lives than me.
Put Sophi out of her misery. But I know who it is just from the edit tonight.
I do not like this "Uncle Jeff" business! Hes still a sex symbol, dont make it creepy!

I hope it’s Fey and Teja that go. And only because I think they’ve brought the vibe down in the house. But I don’t know that the public would do both at once.

I think Tate could be more fun but he’s being muted by some of the other housemates that are so serious. It’s so interesting that the more liberal leaning housemates are the ones that are so dull. lol.

Survivor:
I am pretty sure it was the rooster because one of the boys apologized to it when they were killing it. I don’t know how they do it. Like Alex said.. we eat chicken all the time but actually being the cause of the death I think would hit me.

I do not like this "Uncle Jeff" business! Hes still a sex symbol, dont make it creepy!

I was saying this same thing last night! I get that it’s supposed to be a term of respect but it doesn’t hit.

I do like this cast. It’s been a better cast than the last couple. I thought it was interesting Nate convinced MC to not look for the advantage. But I get her just keeping her vote. The other hand in that is it was possible the advantage could have cost a vote and was hidden on the island. You just don’t know with the way the twists have been since 40.

And agree with you about putting Sophie out of her misery. I felt bad for her. But again it’s evidence that the ā€œearn your keep by winning challengesā€ rule just doesn’t work. And it’s not fun to watch these people in pain. It’s sick.

Jenny and Sam, top tier air hosting! Believable in their roles, best of the challenge.
Otherwise meh. Zelah making it about him again while Farida wasnt phased by the alcohol fight. A bit like the night before with Fey being offended by Jenny and Nancys fake spat on behalf of Elsa baby who seemed to bounce back no problems. Cant wait to see one without the other. Together they are a fun sponge.

Caroline has gone full swing into self-destruction and the most interesting from the social experiment standpoint. She was all open and accepting until she mucked up and then went full swing the other way, seemingly trying to be as offensive as possible. She knew she was gone the moment she messed up, so why bother playing along anymore at all.

The intruders have shaken the house up a bit thankfully. Want to see more of Emily.

The Traitors UK
Nick should speak his mind on Cat because Celia will agree with him and could influence the whole round table. I want to hear the reasoning for murdering charlotte... she would have been an easy banishing. Jonathon is not long for this game without human shields like that. Cat playing with fire, shes setting Jonathon up.

It must be so stressful to be targeted at round table. I would cry!

Did Riz say "money" when he took a shot?
It's an American saying to talk about the "money shot," meaning the game winner or one that really counts. But it didn't really make sense the way Riz did it. I was hoping he'd pay for being the shooter after they lost, because I don't like him much.

I hope they kill the rooster and not an egg laying chicken. Im watching this off the back of the Amazing Race 37 where one of the contestants was milking a sheep and said "Good little boy or girl".... If you dont know what you are milking - that is a problem!
I was worried about that, too, but they did say something about it being the rooster. I'm not sure, though, that they're going to let those hens live long enough to get eggs.

If you're not sure whether the sheep you're milking is male or female, um, that might not be a teat you're pulling on. 😵

I do not like this "Uncle Jeff" business! Hes still a sex symbol, dont make it creepy!
I was saying this same thing last night! I get that it’s supposed to be a term of respect but it doesn’t hit.
I third this opinion! Is it a Gen Z thing? It started last season, which of course this cast wouldn't have seen before their season, so it must be a thing. It's very odd. Not only what you both said, but "uncle" used this way is a term of endearment, for an older man who's kind to you, which Jeff isn't! The only good thing about it is that I'm sure Jeff hates it, and that makes it funny.

I feel sorry for Sophi (not sure if that's how her name is really spelled, but I think they're doing that to distinguish her from Sophie, who we've barely heard from). Ironically, it's going to make her a target if she gets to the merge, because she has suffered like no other player and therefore deserves to win more.

Emily is the surprise standout of the season. She’s so confident in herself, and does a great job of being able to express herself but also be open to the experience. It’s a complete contrast to how George was playing before he was removed from the game. I have really enjoyed seeing her blossom, and glad they brought her back. I hate night 1 evictions.

Can’t wait to see who noms are this week. I hate that Caroline keeps getting immunity. Like Richard said even though this isn’t really an immunity, it functions like one.

I thought the jar hands were a hilarious punishment for Zelah, but it’s interesting that everyone decided to break the rules about the leftover pizza (except Richard of course). It’s funny to watch everyone basically be like ā€œwhat’s worse than a cold shower?ā€ And just rule break anyway.

Survivor US tonight! Can’t wait!

BBUK Nominations

Oh I like Tate every time I see him. Loved that he just said "you wouldn't understand" to Caroline about the biblical "no soul" belief. People have all these assumptions and there is no point trying to explain to some. Plus, he knows there is an edit that could take his explanation out of context. He seems so level headed and reasonable. Emily will make a good politician! But Caroline does make better BB tv.

Teje seems younger every time I see her. Like, she doesnt know there is a world outside of what school and her immediate family has taught her. When she said something like she wont associate with people with different views, is exactly why we dont have a sense of community in the world anymore. We have to be forgiving, to an extent, to exist. If we arnt, then we are always at war. What a horrible way to live. The 18 year olds on these shows used to be the most wild types, but shes just a parrot.

Farida is a laugh, love seeing all her different outfits. Shes targeting the christians which is also funny as. Jenny is reality tv gold, I can see her getting a full reality tv career after this, she just has that ditzy tv quality about her. She was the only one who was genuinely concerned for Elsa and her demons. SO funny when Elsa said "theres one behind you" after nominations lol!

Marcus, meh, he's there, dont dislike him but defo dont want him to win. Richard is doing well considering he is so incredibly out of place. Nancy and Sam really digging into their bitch era and its a fun relationship to watch. I completely forgot Zelah existed again until he nominated haha. Nancy really is so pretty and sometimes I think shes been nominated for that reason.

Caroline knows how to play the cameras, saving Tate for sexual reasons hahaha. Is he the naked butler business or was that someone else? Wow, surprised by the choice but picking Zelah is a good choice all round - her reasons were solid. That she thinks he will win, and that she thinks he is safe. Its not as if she is the first to ever do that! She is smarter than she lets on.

It's kind of hypocritical (and she commented this on Wednesday's episode) that one of the reasons she nominated Richard is that she thinks he's a game player, but she's just as much, if not more, of a game player. Everything she does is strategic. She realized that she would need safety to stay and has solely focused on that each time she has gone into the eye market. But i agree Zelah was a good pick from her side, because he is the least likely to be evicted out of the three, ensuring Richard or Fariha go. I don't know the public's opinion on Richard. So it will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Fariha has tons of fans that will vote for her!
