Anyone here watching?

I'm on my second watch of s2. I feel like I havent seen a good layered show in years, so Im lovin it.

Most netflix shows I can zone out of and still grasp its entirety but this show is more of a challenge. Admittedly I am its exact target, which is nice really 😀 What a blast!

Its not been widely advertised and is a little bit experimental. The original script was unwritten, it was just the producers acting out the scenes for the Netflix executives. Season 2 has a different feel to season 1 but I still enjoy the worlds and lore they have built so far. I haven't chased much info about it online but I did see a tweet that mentioned they are relying on word of mouth from fans to get a season 3. I think it needs a 3rd season where as if they finished at s1 it could have ended but now they've linked it to more. I hope it continues and I don't have to wait too many years for it. I might not have Netflix anymore by the time s3 comes out!

Was it done truthfully according to the bible or truthfully according to a wack-job organization like the church of scientology?

Neither. Its a story with dimensional elements.

Watching s2 now and I wish there was a bit more to it this season. There are lots of little parts to think on outside of the story. I guess its what it meant with the scene that said something like "studying philosophy or religion without studying either".

The 'angel' travels different dimensions. Inhabits their own body elsewhere. All in this series are trapped looking for escape, but not all trapped or escaping in the same way.

I am on the last episode of s2 and there is quite a bit more cheek to it that I missed the first time round. It hits hard in the final episode of both seasons. I like that sort of build up, and I am not disappointed yet still wanting more. There is tons to discuss in this show, so many subtleties in the acting and levels to the dialogue, I find it really clever! I'd love to write about it further but to narrow down a topic is tough.

I hope a few more on this forum will give it a proper go - its one you can dive into as deep as you want to, a bit like Buffy in that regard. The show itself is freeing. I feel like there have gotta be some Buffy fans who would love this as much as me. Plus a petite blond hero. I have mentioned a ton of spoilers so far, so a few more wont hurt 😉

This character arc on screen right now is quite beautiful, a complete character turn around ending in full forgiveness, showing what forgiveness at its core is. Forgetting the hurt and moving on, freeing everyone involved. It is the complete opposite of everything therapy ever taught me.

I had to turn subtitles on for this one, HAP mumbles sometimes. I am not sure its going to come across as it seemed in the show but maybe a good sentence to spark some discussion.

"Every human mind contains the multiverse, an actual garden of forking paths within us all, just waiting to be fertilised"

I thought it was an interesting choice of words. Ready to be fed, or ready to be shat on.

Sadly this is cancelled, but really does leave a whole lot of room for epic fanfic and mindbending stories with a spiritual sci fi base. The Original Angel was a good way to put it, Brit Marling has now opened the door for others to explore this genre in this time. She is an interesting person and one I will surly be looking out for in the future.

Some of the artwork Brit shared on her insta after the cancellation, one of those topics that awakened something in people that wouldn't have attempted this before.

Even Jason Issacs shared his love as much as he could within contract limitations.

Fans are still trying to get the rest of the story. Planning their own TV event on the 16/12/2019

I don't hold a lot of hope for its return. It would be cool to see how the rest was planned to play out, and Neflix wasnt the right place for it anymore. It did influence many people, deeply. Maybe we are just supposed to take if from here ourselves. It came at a good time to be a special show to those who needed it. I hope I can access the DVDs, or a way to own it once Netflix disown it for good.

I can't even suggest this as a show to people where I live, they honestly would not even begin to grasp it. Mock what they dont want to understand, as they do. Others say its on their list, but they've been saying it for years and if it was calling to them they would have seen it by now. I do know I will be looking out for other fan work and any work of its creators. I haven't found anywhere good to discuss it 🙁

I watched the first episode so far and it's really intriguing. The direction is a good representation of mental collapse. It'll have to be something I watch on my own, as I don't think my partner would enjoy it. I'd also like to watch it when it isn't incredibly noisy, so it'll take quite a while (right now I can hear intense screaming from a baby, a dog barking pure stress, and other idiots making noise). Maybe I should just watch it at 2am - it seems like comfort in the dark.

Reactions and karma isnt working for me for some reason but YAY! Yes it would be better in the quiet, it turns into quite the campfire story. Part of the reason I love it, is due to the way season 1 is told. They haven't forgotten the beauty of a story being shared verbally in an intimate setting. Its a bit like listening to the (happier) stories of the oldies at the pub. There is so much wisdom in that.
