The longest road trip I have made over the last 5 years I have repeated half a dozen times each year.
I'll listen to one whole CD going there and one coming back, the CD's that I prefer are:

Guns n Roses - greatest hits
Evanescence - Fallen

For short journeys I enjoy listening to Stonefield

This is a tough question because CDs aren't what they used to be. I think records used to be good beginning to end. And then after a while it seems like there were a few good songs and the rest were filler type songs. Very few CDs are good beginning to end. So the following CDs are not necessarily my favorite bands of all time (nor do they necessarily contain my all time favorite songs) but they represent CDs that I feel are extremely well put together with great songs throughout the album so as to maximize CD usage and minimize CD changing for a hypothetical road trip. Oh and also I love singing during roadtrips so these are CDs I can sing along to:

4. Shakira - Donde Estan Los Ladrones
5. If I'm being honest - The soundtrack to Wicked would be on this list (see above re sing-along-ability)

Again, really hard to limit this to just 5 (could easily have listed 50), but here goes:-
Chosen mainly for the sing-along value......and in no particular order.....

1. Tear the World Down - We are the Fallen.
2. Blackwater Park - Opeth.
3. Dark Third - Pure Reason Revolution.
4. Fallen - Evanescence.
5. Moving Pictures - Rush.

Could easily have chosen 5 from each of the following artists...….Dream Theater, Genesis, Lacuna Coil, Opeth or Riverside. 🙂

I'm not much for music when I drive alone. I prefer audiobooks. I'm currently listening to "Monster Hunter Memoirs: Saints," the third in John Ringo's "Monster Hunter Memoirs" trilogy. I highly recommend the Monster Hunter series, both by Larry Correia and John Ringo to any Buffy fans. Think of Slayers with guns, fighting everything from vampires and werewolves to Other World Old Masters for fun and profit.

Now, Red Rain is a masterpiece. This song makes me cry every time. 😔 But will somebody PLEASE tell me why no one in the media ever talks about how Phil Collins totally copied Peter's voice?! They sound identical. That always annoyed me.
