Tv series with the best finale

Hey all,

So I was wondering what are the tv series that you consider to have the best finale?

Here are my top 5:

1) Buffy : Not everyone agrees but this one was perfect for me!
2) Six feet under : A perfect ending to an almost perfect serie.
3) Breaking bad: A great serie that knew when and how to end.
4) Friends: It made sense how it ended and everyone got what they deserved.
5) Angel: Let's go to work!

BtVS & AtS didn't end poorly, but not really how I wanted them to go out.
 
In no particular order:
  • Angel
  • Dollhouse
  • Will & Grace - Original Finale
I literally can't think of anymore. Finales are tricky, imo, they try so hard to wrap everything up, that it just ends up overly cheesy most of the time. Joss did it well twice, though 🙂
 
1 The Wire - Season 5 is my least favourite but the final episode is perfect. The players change but the game stays the same.

2 Breaking Bad - It wrapped everything up as well as I could have hoped and gave me some moments that I did not know I needed (Walts admission).

3 Angel - The mission statement ending was great.

4 The Sopranos - Altogether, not a great final episode. But the final scenes and the breadcrumbs that were left throughout the season that lead up to that ending was pretty genius in my opinion.

5 Rome - Had to wrap up way too quickly but it did a great job of closing the story of the Republic and showing the dawn of the Empire.
 
I really like 12 Monkeys finale. That was the first finale I've seen in awhile (probably since Breaking Bad) that I thought worked well. Game of Thrones finale sucks.

  3. Scrubs (but I'm couting the original Season 8 finale before the spin-off was shoe-horned into being another season)

In that case, I count Scrubs, too. Very lovely finale, always makes me tear up while smiling.
Ash vs. The Evil Dead (if you can't wrap things up neatly just go all out balls-insane.)
Burn Notice
Dollhouse (I love it. This one is probably my fave because of the accompanying music)
Person Of Interest
Angel (Perfectly sums up the philosophy of the show)
 
Angel didn't have and end like Buffy did, Joss probably spent the ending money on a party for the team. At least Buffy had the big ending.
I never saw the end of Dollhouse as the series became to boring to watch.
Person of Interest gave me a few moments of closure,
a bit like iZombie.
Dark Angel had a good ending
Santuary had a satisfactory ending
Quatermass and the Pit had a good ending. But the chances are not many here saw that.
Had Robin of Sherwood ended with Micheal Praed that would have been a good ending.

Yes, I absolutely adore the final song used in Dollhouse, makes me tear up every time I hear it, it was so haunting and beautiful and fitting for the show. Dollhouse in general had beautiful music, I think of all the Whedonverse shows, it made the best use of songs.

Worst finales:
- Dexter (soooo bad)
- Weeds (urgh)
- HIMYM (watchable, but kinda makes the whole show and especially the final season rather pointless)
- Desperate Housewives (most of them stop being housewives and become super successful business women or politicians and they all stop hanging out together? ridiculous)
- Sabrina the teenage witch (actually the last four seasons were awful, the final season was unwatchable, the finale was better but still not particularly good)
