The human who became the vampire doesn't deserve to suffer the guilt of the vampire's actions

The only reason I'm cool with Angel being re-ensouled in Becoming is because he had a century to fall on a stake or stroll into the sun if that existence was that unacceptable to him

That's an argument for the first thing being done to Spike when it is discovered he has a soul is to stake him. Admittedly, he suffered no guilt.
