I mostly like old country like Dolly, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson, among others. More recent are Gretchen Wilson and Martina McBride. I'll still listen to modern country, rarely, and like some of what I hear, but I listen to the classic country music stations when I have the choice. My extended family has vast collections of country records, cassettes, and cd. Heck, I believe one still has an 8-track player, though I don't know if he still does as he was having trouble with it and the tapes it played.
(I'm tempted to share The Highwaymen, a song featuring reincarnation, as it matches my mood right now, particularly as I've been contemplating multiple people close to me dying in the last 10 years. But it wouldn't be what I normally would pick, though I do like it. I'm too undecided here.)
A few darkwave bands include The Last Dance, Bella Morte, Sisters of Mercy, Switchblade Symphony, and, of course, the Cure. I think Dolly could've made good darkwave music if she tried, her songs could be haunting enough. Anyway, my melancholic mood has inspired me to share one here:

Getting to something odder, there is this song (not sure of its genre, but I think it came out in 1969, over a decade before I was born), and the vid I often watch it to:
There is this that was part of a soundtrack to a western animation, but the song haunted me for a time when I first heard it, got into my head, and helped me to resolve some issues (that had nothing to do with the show and thus not intended by the song), so in honor of that I'll share this "wild card" music, and how I could see it mystifying that this song left such an impression on me:
And as another odd one, I was shopping last month when I heard a song that enchanted me. It was mostly the music of it and the voice, more than the lyrics, though some lyrics did interest me a lot. I paused to listen and commit the chorus to memory so I could look it up when I got home. It turned out to be a song of a one night stand which in of itself didn't mean much to me (and would surprise many that I like it so much), but the overall sound and music of it has gotten me to listen to it a lot so that I even looked it up this morning.
