does anybody know if the writers have said why they created kennedy? like what did they think she would bring to the story? i really am curious not just being petty.
i hate kennedy just as much as the next, but ive been going beyond that lately and started to wonder what the writers had in mind when they created her. is she there just for willow to move on? or did they just want some annoying amateur to show up and irritate us all.
or what do you guys think they had in mind?

I think they needed a bit of a brat character for the mix.

But I am still perplexed as to why Willow is attracted to her. Such a drastic change from Oz and Tara. It feels like they hooked up cos she was the only lesbian available.

yeah i guess your right.
she couldve been bratty without becoming willows girlfriend. it was way too late to bring in someone for her, a someone that was super bossy and irritating and like you said, nothing like willow would usually be into. i feel the viewers were still mourning tara and so was willow, which made kennedy even more unnecessary. sorry just needed to vent lol.

Dont be sorry! Discussion is the point 🙂

There are many who share your view. I keep asking myself why was willow attracted to her?

i feel like maybe she wasn't attracted to her at all? like she may of thought she was cute but not true attraction. and if you wanna get deep, maybe becoming close to someone like tara or oz is too close to home for her at that point?
i dont know the actresses had great chemistry either, what do u think?

Kennedy is a pain in the backside, and that's being relatively polite about her.

I despise Kennedy. In a fight between Caleb and Kennedy, I'm rooting for Caleb. I hate the way Kennedy pursues Willow and won't take no for an answer. Willow clearly wasn't ready to move on yet Kennedy still kept going at it until Willow eventually gave in. I hate the way Kennedy is suddenly included in Scooby meetings and put in charge of training the potentials, especially when she was a bully to Chloe who then committed suicide. Kennedy did nothing to earn a place amongst the scoobies, it was just handed to her because she's dating Willow.

I especially hate the way that when Willow looks like she's about to stand up for Buffy, Kennedy ROUNDS on Willow and says "Why are you always sticking up for her!" Willow hadn't even said anything at this point, she just stood up. The point is why wouldn't Willow stick up for Buffy, they've been friends for 7 years! Kennedy seems to think she can just come in and decide what Willow does.

I hate Kennedy. I wish she'd been one of the potentials to die, that would've been the highlight of the season for me.

I always thought it was purely for 'The killer in me'. They had to introduce a new 'love interest' for Willow so she could let go of Tara & all that followed.
As for the Chemistry between them.... Aly was already good friends with Seth and Amber before they got the parts, but as far as I know she had never met Iyari.

Basically, she was just a plot device & the whole thing was rushed to fit into 3 episodes (she doesn't arrive till 7/10 & they are sucking face by 7/13) 😕

i agree with everything you said. i just dont know how they thought it was a good idea to bring her in at the end of the series it was so frustrating. and yes it was soooooooo irritating to have her boss willow around like is she for real? is she always that bossy with people shes just met.

i do love that episode, but only because we had willow speak of tara again. its like they just let her forget about tara completely which is so unrealistic and so disrespectful to tara as a character and the relationship they had. but as you said it was so rushed.. she was a bully and it was all way to rushed.

Also the main issue with that episode is that Willow turned into Warren because she felt guilty about kissing Kennedy (which shows she isn't over Tara), Willow is tearful and begging Tara for forgiveness, and Kennedy's response is to kiss Willow again? Seriously?

That's a great point actually. I also feel like as willow was grieving she didn't quite have the strength to reject Kennedy (that's the only reason I can come
Up with). And Kennedy took full advantage. She just seems totally power obsessed and what better way to get to the top then through one of the scoobies.

I'm not sure Kennedy had any genuine feelings for willow? Thoughts?

I'd say Kennedy did fancy Willow but Kennedy was only interested in her own feelings rather than Willow's. For example, Kennedy didn't care that Willow was still grieving Tara, Kennedy wanted to be with Willow and she was going to make sure that's what happened regardless of Willow's feelings on the matter. When Kennedy began dating Willow, she considered herself a Scooby and thus above the rest of the potentials (hence the bullying of Chloe by publicly humiliating her in front of the other potentials and calling her a "maggot" and then gloating about it. When the First can basically say "Your behaviour drove Chloe to suicide" WITHOUT lying, you know there was a serious issue there that wasn't properly addressed). When Kennedy was practically jumping on Buffy to get her kicked out, the moment Willow stands to say something, Kennedy rounds on her and says "Why are you always sticking up for her!"

Why wouldn't Willow stick up for Buffy, her friend who she's known for 7 years and has been through a lot with? As far as Kennedy is concerned Willow should be siding with HER despite being actual friends with Buffy.

Kennedy is a selfish self-absorbed brat who should've died instead of Amanda.

I know It bothered me so much like willow she's a complete control freak! And yeah I really thought the idea to keep her around was weak. I know the series was ending but come on.
I'm glad I've found someone who shares my opinion lol. Most people do but I've heard peopl say that we shouldn't be so hard on her she's another strong female character. But she's not strong she's completely selfish

Don't think she was that strong a character. I actually thought Vi, Rona, & maybe even Amanda were stronger (& more likable) characters.

I hate Kennedy with the fire of a thousand suns, literally the only character worse than her is Clara from Doctor Who and that's only because we were subjected to her over a longer period of time. Kennedy is on par with Jar Jar Binks and Scrappy doo in terms of how annoying she is.

Vi and Amanda were ok, Rona was wooden.

Haha!! And yes I agree there were better potentials then Kennedy. I don't really know how I felt about them tho? Like Rona I didn't like, she was clearly scared but it made her rude and irritating. I liked Amanda and I also thought vi was great, her transformation in chosen was awesome when she was speaking to Rona after the fight

Yes, Kennedy was first and foremost a plot device to give us that heartwrenching ending to "The Killer in Me". That alone makes her worth it for me.

One thing in defence of Kennedy's personality. Willow got someone that gave her a little happiness without indulging her too much. Maybe that was what Willow needed. Willow had been wallowing in pain for a long time. Kennedy took her out of that.
