Which Characters Would You Trade for Those Who Kicked the Bucket?

Kennedy and Rona for Amanda. I liked her.

Bring Groo back, kill him, keep Lilah, and have her join Angel Investigations as a reluctant ally for the rest of Season 4. That way she could have stayed on the show when they ended up working for Wolfram and Hart in Season 5.

Lilah as part of Angel Investigations could have worked well, although I think her being part of Wolfham and Hart with them during S5 might have worked better. No I think Groo had out stayed his welcome so even bringing him back just to kill him would hold no appeal to me😀
 

He's really not, in my opinion. To me, it felt like he was forced into that show and it was clear to me that they didn't really know what to do with him, which makes sense when you remember that they - the writers - didn't actually plan for him to be there. It was a requirement from the network for their renewal that Spike be brought in. In my opinion, Spike doesn't fit into AtS, not in the role he was playing in S5. Evil!Spike? Hell, yes, I could totally see that working, maybe eveb if he was brought back as the liaison, Eve's role or Hamilton's role, working for the Senior Partners.

To me, Spike didn't actually have much of a storyline in AtS S5. He was just sort of shoved into the backgrounds of everyone else's storyline, which, despite how much I don't like Spike, I think is unfair to both the character and the actor.

Disagree! I think there was unfinished business with Angel. And to see them back on the same side, this time fighting the good fight, but still with tension between them made for some entertaining and engrossing viewing. I also liked the connection which Spike formed with Fred. And I define you to say that he was worthless in Buffy S5.

Rona is the African-American potential who has her arm broken by Caleb in 'Dirty Girls.' Amanda is a Sunnydale High student who is the actual potential earlier in the season instead of Dawn.

Oh yeah wouldn't have minded seeing more of Amanda, although I did like how they handled her storyline and thought it was pretty tragic and just showed that in life things don't always work out for the best.

Can I kill off a character to bring back one who just left? Buffy could grab Spike's ankle at the end of "Harsh Light of Day," and then he'd fry in the sun. In exchange, Oz stays forever. Seems fair to me.

Andrew for Jonathan. Definitely. I can't stand Andrew.

Harmony for Sunday. I would much rather have seen Sunday's character developed further than have an immortal evil airhead running around not getting staked for five more seasons for no logical reason. Sunday could've turned out to be a former Slayer, and Spike could've used her as rebound for Dru.

Kennedy for Amanda. I just loathe Kennedy. I'd kill her off without getting a free character resurrection out of it.

Parker for Penn. Another vampire in Angel's line, played by Jeremy Renner, and he only gets one episode?

Lyle Gorch for Ford. I don't appreciate annoying Texan stereotypes (thank goodness for Fred and Lindsey), and Ford's history with Buffy would make him a more interesting recurring threat.

Idk, Faith was a tough act to follow; another 'bad slayer' storyline might feel redundant.

@Mr Trick where in my post, quoted above, did I say I thought Spike was pointless or useless or not needed in BTVS S5? I mentioned AtS S5, because I honestly believe that Spike was useless in that season and should have remained dead after BTVS S7, where I thought his story had come to a natural conclusion. I thought it was a great, heroic end for the character that was stomped all over the following season. I mentioned absolutely nothing about BTVS S5, so I don't understand why you're calling me out for apparently doing so. :/

I agree, to say nothing of the fact the writers were only just getting to grips with his character mid way through the season. I'm sure If AtS had continued they'd worked him in further, but hey, I'm not complaining as I adored the Spangel interactions we got, and thought JM and DB worked really well together. 😀

Sorry it was just because I mentioned in an earier post that I thought he was really strong in Buffy S5 too and I wasn't sure if you disagreed on that, but quite right you never said anything about him in Buffy so I'm sorry!😱 But you're still dead wrong on him in Angel S5😀

It was last minute and a bit rushed so he didn't have a complete arc for himself planned out but I thought he fitted in well with everyone else. We got the friend / enemy tension with Angel and lots of talk of their history. We got to see Angel reflect on his situation and compare it with Spike. We get to see how accepting the rest of the gang are for another vampire with a soul. Then we got some great humour as well. My one real problem is that the reason he stuck around was flimsy. Not that much time had passed by and in all honesty it would have made much more sense for him to go and find Buffy again. The not wanting to ruin his big exit talk was quite weak. Obviously he stuck around because there wasn't another show to go back to but they could have come up with a better reason in the verse.

And the Fred/Spike thing is one of the most overlooked and sweet friendships from either show. If I wasn't so moved by Fred and Wes' romance later in the season I so would have shipped for Spike/Fred!

I want back kendra (i absolutely loved her and would trade Faith for her) maybe they draw her a bit exotic and stereotypical, but i still adored her, especially those moments she had with buffy.
Her character had so much potential, i would so watch how the interaction with the scoobies would reshape her opressed 'all duty, no fun' personality. I think that girl had live fire in her.

lindsey.
I would trade giles to get them or all the potentials (except amanda, but she died anyways :'( poor girl. )

Andrew for Jonathan (I like Andrew, but he didn't deserve to be a scooby as much as Jonathan or Faith).

Wood for Anya (Anya may be annoying, but she is more interesting than Wood).
