Question Who was the best fighter, Buffy or Faith ?

I don't think Faith has ever beaten Buffy, so I would say Buffy is the better fighter.
 
Plus Buffy had years of training from Giles. Faith would have had a little from her original Watcher....(before she was killed), then very limited training from Wesley....which would have been of little use.....oh and a day or so from that Post woman. All the rest she would have had to develop herself. The fact that she can hold her own against Buffy at all is quite remarkable really.
So I would say it's not really a fair comparison. Give Faith 5 years intensive training from Giles then put them up against each other......
 
Up until the end of Season 3, I would say that Faith and Buffy were so close to the same skill level that neither one could actually be considered superior. I think that this is pretty well illustrated by the fact that Buffy had to use a knife to get the upper edge in the end.

By the time that Faith came out of her coma, Buffy had a bit more experience, but it was still close.
Faith's time in prison, with no real challenge, made the difference. By Season 7, Faith was definitely second best. By that point, blasphemous as this might sound, I would put her on a skill level very close to Spike.

(And, yes, that makes, in my opinion, by Season 7, the Number 4 scrapper on the Good Guy team)
 
I think Buffy but Faith still does pretty well considering that she has received less training than Buffy.
 
Just based on the way they both fought, they seem evenly matched in terms of skill and speed. Buffy definitely seems more reluctant to train (basically doing her time during practice sessions because Giles forces her too), especially in the first few seasons. Faith definitely had more of a killer instinct though, which I think is an important quality for a slayer. With Buffy, she was often thinking about something else while fighting. So I’d say they’re both even. And I think Faith might even have had the edge if she had had a Watcher with Giles’ skill and patience.
 
In the show I would say Buffy is always slightly ahead because of circumstance (although Faith was also a great fighter, look at her fights with Angelus and The Beast, etc.) And I honestly believe that Faith lost the fight in season 3 because she was distracted and her heart wasn't totally in it, not because she was really worse. They're supposed to be perfectly matched in skills after all. In the comics, for some reason I see Faith as being a better fighter now. Probably because she finally buckled down and committed to slaying every day, whereas Buffy has kind of relaxed and let the other slayers take care of some things.
