I just saw a post on Facebook that had me giggling. Someone said Faith should have been Willow's love interest instead of Kennedy.

I cannot even imagine that pairing. They seemed to absolutely hate each other, so I don't know how that would have even happened.

Thoughts? Could you ever see Faith and Willow together romantically, since Faith seemed to be bisexual?

There's no way I could see that pairing.
Willow seemed more drawn to those who were mellow and laid back (male and female). For that reason, I'm having a hard time imagining her with Faith. That and Faith not being into relationships.

I find it much easier to imagine a one-night stand between them, assuming Willow drinks enough alcohol. 😛

Loathing sometimes is disguised passion, I could see a quickie romance but not a true romance. Faith would find Willow a real challenge and she always liked that. I still think ED has more big brass ovaries than most actresses I've ever seen. She makes Gywneth Paltrow look like the Lunching Lady of all Time. She's the real deal.

I think Faith and Parker would have been a good relationship. Because Faith prefers casual sex with boys, and Parker is amendable to that. Heck, sticking around to buy her breakfast is probably too much commitment for her, although she would definitely appreciate breakfast.

I also think Warren and Faith would a good hookup. Warren is still a handsome guy, can buy alcohol, and occasionally Faith just needs to drag someone to poundtown, and she could probably use some robotics every so often. The best way to deal with incles is to boink them.

I wrote the above paragraphs because it demonstrates more consistency with established character traits than the original idea does. Faith is not a lesbian, Faith is too damaged to be in a relationship at this time. Faith does not associate sex with emotional intimacy. Putting her in a relationship with Willow negates those three characteristics.

I can definitely see Faith and Parker getting together!
I would not wish Willow on anyone so emotionally fragile as Faith. Willow is an arrogant, controlling manipulator, especially after high school.

I think she thought she could be the dominant partner with Tara. She was with Oz because he liked her first and was the first giy to show interest.

Kennedy pursued her at the end of the world or she never would have considered her.

I also counted the generally laid back Xander as well as Giles. Though Giles was quietly intense, she didn't see much of it beyond his "cluck-cluck" sound. She had a crush on both.
Whilst people may not see the romantic link, there was a definite missed opportunity to have them actually become friends, at the very least. Two former good people, went off the deep end into evil, now reformed. I think they could've bonded (same can actually be said for Wanya too!).

Let's be real - there was no chemistry between Kennedy and Willow. It was yet another forced romance in s7 we could've done without.

I may be one of the few, but I could see a bit of a blossoming romance between Faith and Willow. That said, she also seemed to connect with Gunn, and with Spike. Those might've been short-term romances though.

NotASlayer Being with someone who wanted a long term thing would probably have been good for Faith.

I agree. I think she was probably at that point in her life, or close to wanting something more 'real' and stable. I think that's why she was affected by Robin's speech about there being good guys out there and asking her to take a chance on him.

She could've easily found a committed relationship with Willow. What's their relationship name? Waith? Fillow?

yes, and it used to be a relatively popular pairing

Look at season 4 and her hyping up Tara

yes, it would be an emotional growth thing. And the people into Willow/Faith think Faith is at least bi. Also Faith is more emotionally healthy in season 7 than in previous years. That's why she's able to be there

Faith has put a lot of work into overcoming her demons and Willow hasn’t. I do think it would probably be better for Faith not to be with someone in Buffy’s inner circle for both their sakes. Aside from that I don’t see any attraction between them.

Well put! Faith got a lot of insight into herself and changed a lot between leaving Sunnydale and going to prison, and coming back to help save the world. She was making adult choices that could have cost her a lot.

Even after putting EXISTENCE at risk, Willow mostly felt sorry for herself and had a childish expectation that she could make bad things go away just because she wanted it, and fix mistakes with cookies. This is how she almost ends up as Gnarl chow! Self-centered fear run riot. She is like a very dextrous baby with nuclear codes.

I see no chemistry between Faith and Willow. I don't ship them (Buffy & Faith) but Faith has way more chemistry with a whole ton of people including Buffy (they would be an awful fit for each other). Wood, I like a lot actually. In another universe, Spike, Giles, Angel, Gwen Raiden, Kate, even (grown up 5 years) - Dawn. Maybe Forrest or Graham if they were not working for toxic Maggie Walsh.

After what Willow did to Tara and everyone, she really needed to NOT get rewarded with a pretty girl. She needed to grow up. There should have been consequences.

Just because Faith has some bi energy doesn't mean she would want to be with Willow. Faith, like Buffy, has an internal core of emotional strength and she has learned a lot since her last visit to Sunnydale.

Whiny, self-centered, manipulative and fearful would not be Faith's flavour. Willow substitutes know-all, fix-all, control-everything for actual self-esteem that could give her a chance for true empathy - which would respect other people's autonomy. Without being 'the powerful one' Willow has no idea who she is.

That said, I don't think even Willow deserved the abusive steamroller that was Kennedy. That was one entitled bitca. Shoving her way into the grieving widow's bed? NO. Nasty. Slimy. Ugh! If a guy had done that, what would we call him?

I’m not gonna say 100% no, just very unlikely.

If they had time and care to
a) put these characters in enough proximity to engender several interactions,

b) have them resolve previous feelings and form new bonds

c) if the actresses had chemistry

As far as we saw, I saw very little chemistry between them, but if they put time and effort into a and b, then that could change.

Could a handful of season 7 episodes achieve any of this? No. Perhaps if Faith had been there from ep 1.

Romantically, no. I’ve seen this pairing before as well, and I tried to see it but I just can’t. However, I do think it would’ve been interesting to see more interactions between them in season 7. Something like Faith, whether intentionally or not, leading Willow toward a full redemption. Since I watched s7 I’ve thought that the screen time spent on Willow’s romantic relationship would’ve been better served exploring the aftermath of her actions. Not just her grief and guilt over Tara which had an episode, but over almost ending the world. And who else betrayed her friends and aided in an apocalyptic event— Faith. Now that I think about it, there’s actually a lot of parallels between their downward spirals.

It would be cool too if one of the hypothetical scenes of Faith and Willow talking paralleled the scene where Faith kidnapped Willow in season 3. For example, they’re on a stake out with a few Potentials and Faith has to pull Willow out of sight. When they get back to the house, Willow mentions that night and says “I really hated you back then, but now I understand how much pain you were in.” And Faith deflects it at first and makes a self-deprecating comment but they have a surprisingly deep conversation about redemption. And Faith relays what Angel said about how she might never tip the scales and make up for what she did, but she should keep doing good. I don’t even think they’d stay friends in the long run, but it would be a good step in Willow’s journey in my opinion.

However, I would rather Willow be romantically involved with Faith than Kennedy haha, she’s a lot less grating. Sure, it wouldn’t make much sense, but Willow falling for someone like Kennedy didn’t make much sense to me either.

I believe Eliza stated that she played Faith as bi.
She had to say that or else she'd have been Gina Carano'd. This rant is NOT directed at you NotASlayer, I'm just using your post as an excuse to talk about it LOL. Never had any problems with you, this is all based on responses I've got on Buffy X and reddit, where I've been told I'm convincing young bi women they are worthless by trying to take Faith away from them, or that I'm viciously homophobic when I questioned how Faith is a lesbian. Another one was Gabrielle from Xena. I simply wrote in a post she was bisexual as she is, and got told I was a disgusting bastard who wanted to eliminate the lesbian community by taking away their comphet, whatever the **** that is, lesbian icon LMAO. (Apparently I decide everything that happens in both these long finished shows and how everyone should view them? Didn't know I was that influential)

Ironically all this did was make me more hostile to the idea of Faith as bisexual, when before I really didn't care one way or the other. (Though I always hated her and Buffy for reasons I'll go into in a minute and one could argue Faith as a bisexual woman is actually a negative stereotype that all bisexual people are sex crazed and aggressive.)

Still in the actual show Faith is not even remotely bisexual. It's laughable to suggest she is. She's only ever shown interest in men, and isn't exactly the type who would be afraid to show interest in women if she did. Yeah she's a real buttoned down, shy and retiring, virginal woman, who totally doesn't thrust herself on guys she likes, and constantly flirts with them. FFS even when they are old father figures like Giles she still talks about them being cute and handsome.

On top of that she's a homophobic bitch who BULLIES an actual lesbian in a horrible way. Her nasty homophobia is so strong it tips Tara off that it's not Buffy right away as much as the magic.

People who say "oh no they wanted to **** because they fought" I admit always did my head in. Such an infantile reading of their complex relationship. People who insist on that for them and the Doctor and the Master, and Batman and the Joker are like idiots on the playground saying "dude why you so obsessed with him, is he your boyfriend". If Hitler and Churchill were fictional characters, they'd say they wanted to ****.

This must be said and I hope I don't get banned for it LOL, but there is a very possessive and entitled side of the LGBT fan community. I am NOT tarring all or even most of them like this. It's a minority, but a loud one, and worse one who often claim they speak for everyone in that group so people in the industry, writers, actors and producers often pander to them out of fear of being labelled as hating them all.

Also there are entitled people in EVERY community. Hell some of the worst entitled straight men have been FAR worse than the most entitled LGBT people. The worst straight male ones have been actively dangerous like that damaged teen who threatened suicide unless Katy Manning married him.

However we ALL know about and talk about the guys that are entitled in fandom and producers often make a point of NOT pandering to them. They are constantly portrayed in media and tv shows, hell not even just bad romantically but in general, like Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons, "they owe me" or like in Babylon 5 when Gkar is almost killed by one.

Even straight fan girls are similarly often derided and portrayed as entitled like Becky in Supernatural who literally kidnapped Sam Winchester and was an utter joke.

The entitled side of the LGBT fandom however again, because they are part of a vulnerable minority who have been demonized as whole, people won't want to say that about them out of fear of looking like a homophobe and punching down in general which I get. Still by letting them run rampant, you're not treating them as equals, and worse the more you let these entitled asshats like the ones on X speak for the entire LGBT community as they claim, the more there is likely to be a backlash where everybody does get lumped in with them.

As always a more measured approach of just telling these entitled LGBT folks to back off is best, but NOBODY has the courage to do that.

If they decide a character is bi or gay based on nothing usually other than they want to **** the actor, or ironically it might be based on shallow stereotypes like "this woman is a bit butch" or "this guy's a bit prissy" they'll demand they be canonically written as gay or bisexual and will go nuts if they're not.

Fans get called homophobic for all kinds of reasons if you don't like their gay pairing. You just might not like it because it doesn't fit? I hate Spuffy and Cangel because a romance didn't fit either of those relationships and made them into parodies, does that mean I am heterophobic?

The worst though is the way they bully the actors themselves. If an actor doesn't agree with their readings, ****ing hell, they will get absolutely hideous abuse.

I hate to say but actually actresses get it the worst. It seems people get possessive of women regardless or whether it's straight men or lesbians LOL.

With that in mind, I'm sorry I don't trust anything Eliza says decades later, because again if she disagreed with it for whatever reason, she'd get ****ing lynched LOL.

I think you make your case well, and that people who attack you rather than your argument doesn't have a rebuttal. I'm just saying because many who aren't extreme say nothing, so it seems the loudest are the norm when they're an exception.

Thank you. Sadly one of my own friends said I was being awfully homophobic when I said this. She means a lot to me, but sadly she is very rigid when it comes to politics and just will not listen to others, so I don't bother. Good to get it out here though.

You can have issues with certain aspects of the LGBT community that do NOT have anything to do with their lifestyle, same way you can have issues with any community. LGBT folk are people after all and will therefore be prone to the same shitty things as the rest of us, extremists, elitism, cliqueness and tribalism.

Also so many LGBT people should watch as these extremists I don't think are actually extremists for their cause anyway. They are opportunists who don't actually care about broader LGBT acceptance, just in A/ climbing the ladder and using that to get ahead (if they weren't gay it would be something else, IE if they were Scottish like me, they'd make that their thing to talk about in the media.) B/ getting people to join their clique and be under its control, hence why they will come down harder on people who aren't part of their clique than ACTUAL homophobes who they'll happily turn a blind eye too if it is inconvenient to expose them.

Old news for me, but the Gina Carano backlash is the perfect example of all this. She still gets called disgraced by outlets like Pink News and Mary Sue (a word you use for guys like Jimmy Savile.) Simply because she didn't do one thing the LGBT extremists wanted when they had decided she was a queer icon for them, due to again them wanting to **** Gina, and also Gina's own extremely positive history with LGBT people, which is completely airbrushed from history these days.

Go back to 2020 and she was a queer icon, from retweeting a trans girl dressed up as Cara Dune, (the first cosplayer of the character,) going to gay bars with and kissing her lesbian friend Tonya Evinger, who genuinely said she could have got into Gina's panties, to playing bisexual women and sharing onscreen kisses with girls etc.

They thought she was a new Lucy Lawless, IE someone who would do everything they asked, say they were her REAL fans, over the others, and be someone only they were allowed to like. (Also once again negative stereotyping because she was butch, they were already saying Cara Dune was gay.)

Hilariously a lot of these outlets will praise guys with GENUINELY shitty histories with LGBT people. Arnold Schwarzanegger banned gay marriage TWICE, yet The Mary Sue, Rachel Leishman in particular who spent 5 years attacking Gina, praise him and call him a hero. Similarly Pink News as we've been over treat Gina on the level of a child abuser, yet they praise Brad Pitt a man accused of beating his bisexual wife LMAO. However again they don't care about these guys because A/ they are straight white men, so who cares, they don't have that possessive love for them and B/ They are too powerful and it might not be convenient to take them down either.

Hers. (Hilariously Gina doing this with her lesbian pal was at the SAME TIME as the second time Arnie blocked gay marriage, 2007.)

To be fair it wasn't just or even mostly LGBT extremists that got her axed. I think it was shit libs in general. (NOT to be confused with actual libs or lefties of whom I am one. These are the cliquey elitist types who often just use it as a shallow cover for their own crappiness like Neil Gaiman or Disney themselves.)

Also Kathleen Kennedy ousted Gina and blacklisted her because of her dislike of Jon Favreau getting more control of the brand which he would have with Gina's own show. Kennedy is responsible for 98 percent of Gina being blacklisted.

Also plenty of LGBT people supported Gina and she still has a big following in their community with the head of her fanpage who has done more to support her than ANYONE in the public eye, being an openly gay man, Ash. (He's such a sweet, awesome guy by the way.) So I definitely don't want to create a LGBT people ruined Gina narrative. That's not fair and not true and other LGBT people gave her more help than anyone else.

Still the entitled, cliquey LGBT side do still demonise her name in fandom circles 5 years on, along with the entitled lib side, and yeah getting back to my original point, if Eliza Dushku, or Milly Alcok, or Renee O'Connor, or Katie McGrath or ANY of the women they decide are icons for them didn't agree with their readings of their characters then they'd get EXACTLY the same treatment as Gina from these people (probably not the same industry blackout because Kennedy isn't involved,) and again ironically demonized more than a white straight guy who actually took away gay people's rights for half a decade LOL.

To be fair the right wing side are no better. If a woman doesn't agree with their politics they demonize and try to destroy her too. However again at the very least everybody in the media hates them. They get called incels, dude bros, there are docus about male entitlement. If these guys reacted the way they did to Gina to an actress they crushed on who didn't do something they asked it would rightfully be seen as disgusting, not framed as "she provoked them." As it still is with Gina

Here are Reddit and The Mary Sue singing a VERY different tune about Gina back in 2019 and 2020 btw to back up what I'm saying.

Then when the both the libs and the LGBT extremists asked her to do their little rituals like pronouns and BLM and she politely declined, didn't come out against them, but politely declined. They felt jilted. Like the guy in the pub who gets annoyed with the waitress not going out with him.

So yeah I think this is a fair summary fo what happened and again the sad knock on effect is that now whenever I see an actress suddenly say she played this character as bisexual, gay I think "did you though or are you just terrified of the above happening?"

Shame as like 7 years ago I wouldn't have thought that if Eliza said that about Faith.

Ah well that's fair enough, but to be fair this has been going on quietly for a while. Gina's was the tipping point but toxic shippers have had a habit of getting people fired for interfering in their ship like in SPN fandom.
LGBT viewers latched onto Buffy the Vampire Slayer due to the pairing of Willow and Tara and the other gay characters like Larry Blaisdell and Andrew and made a game of permutations and combinations by putting various same-sex people into fanfic relationships. Some are hinted at like Angel and Spike ("except for that one time") and others may be imagined like Giles and Ethan. A lot of people put Spike and Xander together just because they shared the same basement.

Willow and Faith is just another combination in a long list.

Let's see, who haven't I seen paired yet, how about Gunn and Lorne? Yeah, somebody should write that one since Lorne is played as gay.
