S2 Xander is the best! I don't care what anyone thinks. He's just awesome.

My perspective on him has changed a bit over the years, though he has always been among my favorite characters. At first it was because he was funny and made cool Pop. Culture references it made me feel smart that I understood. Then I started to notice other attributes such as his loyalty, bravery and resourcefulness. He also brings a human element and keeps the show grounded in reality. Yeah, he has no powers but that is what makes him relatable. He is also really good with people and quite moral and trustworthy. He doesn't take advantage of Buffy while she's under the love spell knowing it would be wrong. He is also the first person Buffy thinks of when she needs to find a babysitter for Dawn so she can go patrolling.

- I like that he'll tell Buffy what he thinks, even if its harsh, because that's an important thing for a best friend to do; to be honest with those they care about.
- I also like that- when it matters- he supports her.
- I like that the writers give him space to be an idiot-douche and also space to be a really great guy. He's an honestly depicted character with flaws that are explored and strengths that are showcased. He isn't a shallow character or somebody who tears down other characters to make himself seem better.
- Out of all the Scoobies he's the one who improves the most by the end of S7.
- I like that he gets to be heroic on occasion and show that even characters who don't have superpowers can save the day.
- Having said that I like that Xander's superpower is his mouth; and can be used for good or ill.

Shallow stuff:
He has a nice smile.
I like his goofy laugh and his snoopy dance.
He gets some really great lines- and delivers them well, and has some really top-notch dramatic/emotional speeches even though comedy is NB's strength.

Couldn't agree more with this <3
I'm loving season 2 Xander right now.

He's really showing that he can step into the leadership role when needed. He's willing to learn, willing to fight. He's willing to put himself in danger to protect his friends.

Season 2 Xander is my favorite. I did notice that he could step into leadership roles, he will also be the gang's leader after Buffy runs away.

He's not in my top 10 favorite characters of Buffyverse, there are some scenes of him that I don't like (Becoming) but I like him, I like :
- His speeches or good lines (Potential, Dirty Girls (about Buffy), Grave, Becoming (Willow in the hospital), The Freshman (Buffy in the bronze).
- His funny lines sometimes (Bitca, G-man...)
- He's there & is protective for his friends (he says to Spike/D'Hoffryn/Angelus to stay away from his friends)
- He's brave
- He saves the scoobies life and doesn't need to brag about it to them (I don't think they know he saved them in The Zeppo).

In my mind this is it as I'm writing in this thread of Xander but there is maybe/surely more.

So I'm rewatching Buffy again! And I'm in s2. I've been feeling a little different about Xander lately. I'm not going to go as far as to say I like him. But, I'm warming up to him. His "I hate Angel because I want Buffy." is less annoying to me this time around for some reason.
Anyways here are some of the things I've enjoyed so far.

Xander is ALWAYS willing to go into a dangerous situation to save Buffy and his friends. This means a lot considering he is the most human/normal of all the scoobies.
In s1, he follows Buffy to find Jesse.
Then at the end of s1 in Prophecy Girl, he is determined to find/save Buffy even if it means walking into the Master's nest. He didn't care what it meant for him, if he could just save his friend.
Another time is in the Zeppo. Xander is running around saving the world, yet never tells anyone about what he did just as @spikenbuffy mentioned above
Then we all know in Grave, Xander risks his life to save Willow from herself. He didn't care if it meant he died, he just wanted Willow to know that people still loved her.

Xander is actually pretty funny.
I was justing watching What's my line Pt 2 and Kendra is having a fit over Buffy dating a vampire (aka Angel). Then Xander says "Hey Angel is our friend, Except I don't like him."
That cracked me up. Yet, there is a nice sentiment in there that even if Xander doesn't like him, he still considers him part of the team in some type of way since he knows he isn't evil right now and Buffy cares for him.

I'm sure there will be more Xander positivity from me as I continue watching, I'll try to remember to share 🙂

The funniest thing I've ever come across were people on Tumblr discussing the line "I see two women doing spells and I do a spell on myself" to death and ripping it and Xander apart when actually Xander never said that line. It was in Willow's dream. 😀
LOL why would they rip that apart of all things? It was a dream and it was a damn funny line with a great delivery by NB.

I'm so happy to see lots of Xander positivity from non-Xander fans!! It warms my Xander loving heart. Xander's bravery is one of my favorite aspect about him - perhaps because I don't possess that quality.

I love that he didn't need to go to college to have a good life. I watched the show when I was young and that was the first time it dawned on me that that was even an option.. kudos Xander!
