Nicholas Brendon, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Star, Dies at 54

I was very sad to hear of Nicholas' passing....I've started rewatching Buffy again, and while Xander was undoubtedly a problematic character sometimes, he could also be sweet and hilarious. I didn't know Nicholas personally, but I understand he had his own demons and it's awful that he's died so young. I did have a couple of interactions with him on social media some years ago and he was very nice to me. I hope he's at peace now. RIP. 👏♥️

Let me be clear, I am not trying to "brush under the rug" Nick's actions, or discredit his victims in anyway. There is no excuse for domestic violence. I'm simply saying that we can still be empathetic and realize that addiction makes people do awful things.

Okay but to be fair he literally strangled multiple women. We need to take that into account, but all I really care about is his family and other people affected.

I’m glad to know it was natural and it wasn’t any substance overdose. Because for a while there it was questionable. It’s a shame that his life became like that at the end.

After Buffy, I loved him as Penelope’s boyfriend in Criminal Minds. But I’m glad he had multiple successful projects that we can remember him through.
 
I just learned this the other day believe it or not and felt really gutted . Such a sad life with what he endured as a kid with the music teacher. as a csa survivor i felt it in my bones. RIP beautiful soul

He was an abuser himself. Multiple counts of which he pleaded guilty in court regards what he did to his Ex. He was a damaged soul but he was not beautful, let's not sanitize him.

Brendon was arrested in Saratoga Springs, New York in October 2015 for strangling his girlfriend in a hotel room. He was charged with felony third-degree robbery, criminal mischief, and obstruction of breathing.[49][50] Brendon pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. His plea deal provided that he would avoid a custodial sentence if he completed drug and alcohol counseling and one year of probation.[51] He subsequently entered a 90-day residential treatment program in California.[52]

In October 2017, Brendon was arrested in California for assaulting another girlfriend.[53] He was charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse[54] in April 2019 and pleaded not guilty a month later.[55] He later agreed to a plea deal to avoid a potential four-year prison sentence for felony domestic violence and violating active protective orders issued by two states. On February 28, 2020, he was sentenced to three years of probation, 20 hours of community service, and a 52-week domestic violence course.[56]
