Innocence of Memories (2016) 9/10

The new film from British documentary filmmaker Grant Gee (Meeting People is Easy, Scott Walker: 20th Century Man). It adapts Orhan Pamuk's book about his experiences in Istanbul, following some of the political issues of the city along with a provokative but also tragic relationship. Its a rich and stunning cinemtic love letter to the city, and perfectly merges the written word and cinema. The details are vivid, and gives such a powerful account of art, love, and obsession. Exceptional.
 
Deadpool 8/10

Good, clean family fun*. I enjoyed it very much.

*If your family likes violence, swearing, gore and sex all at the same time on repeat

The Revenant. 9/10 . Was a very gripping film with a great story & wonderful scenery. Had a lot of blood in it & a couple of scenes that were
out there & very gory . But loved everything about it .

Wonders what that says about me 😎

The point that got me was when he was taking out the bear's insides. And for a good minute or so I was like "what the hell is he doing?"😱
 
I knew what he was doing but that I read the book Stars Wars -The Empire Strikes Back & in the beginning Han saves Luke & himself
from freezing by sleeping inside their mount dead body .

Deadpool - 8/10
So the plot is pretty simple and the bad guys are nothing to write home about. Other than that it's a blast from start to finish. Great fight scenes, laugh out loud humour and enough sex, violence and foul language to keep everyone happy.

Friends with Benefits - 8/10
I'm not sure if I marked this on here before or not. It's been a while since I saw it at the cinema. Anyway I watched it again at home yesterday and thought it held up really well to a repeat viewing. It's an unusual mix for Rom/Com where it's actually funny, the character's are likeable and you don't want to put your head through a wall after 10 minutes viewing. I think the actors do a great job and the script is strong and amusing as well.
 
Actually have a soft spot for the MI films. Think they serve their function pretty effectivly and that its one of the more watchable Cruise performances. Number two was terrible mind. Three is the best so far I think, great bit of casting with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain.
 
Eyes Wide Shut - 7/10.

The only tolerable Kubrick movie. Tom and Nicole are decent in this movie too.

No, but its at least two marks too high😉

Do you really not like any other Kubrick films? I find him overrated, but I do love Dr. Strangelove and a Clockwork Orange and like Full Metal Jacket.

I watched many well-known Kubrick films but really couldn't bring myself to like them. Maybe it's just because of time/generation gap. I can do a sorting/ranking though:

1. Eyes Wide Shut.
2. The Shining.
3. A Clockwork Orange.
4. Dr. Strangelove.
5. Full Metal Jacket.
6. 2001.
7. Lolita.

He's very up and down I think. 2001 just leaves me cold. Don't like the Shining either.

Not Mission Impossible 5, MI:5. I wouldn't touch those crap Mission Impossible films with a ten foot pole.
