The Hateful Eight (2015): 6.0 / 10 - Quentin Tarantino's weakest (and most overlong) film to date. The performers are all clearly having a blast, and the story has enough graces to make you wonder what might have been with a better plot.
Trumbo (2015): 7.0 / 10 - Bryan Cranston's performance alone steered this film in the right direction; otherwise, it didn't really stand out from any other screen biopic. There were a couple of choice appearances from legendary Hollywood figures such as Edward G. Robinson, Kirk Douglas, and John Wayne.
 
Deadpool 3,4/5

I just know the basics when it comes to the Deadpool character, and what we saw in X-men origins: Wolverine. Which one should try to forget. So not much. The marketing has in my mind been great and made me very intrested in watching the movie. From what I've heard they've captured the vibe of the comis pretty much spot on. Good for them. For my own enjoyment a little less blood, ”dirty” jokes and nudity had probably didn't affected me in a negative way at all. And hade me me give it a higher score. Not sure if my preferences would have changed the rating of the movie but that's not really the point I'm trying to get through. There's obviously different levels for all ratings.
 
Myself I really liked. I thought the movie was really good . I know a friend who thought it was over the top thought .

I actually really liked the plot, but I think it just wasn't executed that well. When I read the script, it was much better. In my opinion, his weakest is still Death Proof, though.
 
Money Train (1995) - 5/10

White Men Can't Jump and Speed had a baby, it's this movie.
 
The Wicker Man (2006) 6/10- for sheer entertainment value. Nic Cage delivers a bat-shit crazy performance, random weird dialogue, roundhouse kicking women and dressing up in a bear costume.
Plus the awesomely awful 'The bees! Oh god not the bees!' climactic scene which had me howling with laughter so much it frightened my dog. 😀
This is the sort of bad movie that I didn't think people made anymore- ripe for riffing.
 
I watched Mad Max: Fury Road yesterday. I'd managed to miss all the hype and hyperbole around this film completely, thankfully. That usually fills me with prejudice lol!
I loved it though, what a fantastic action movie. There's not much I can say bad about it. 9/10 I'd say

But, like with Memento and Interstellar, it was a lot better the second time around. I wouldn't recommend people to research the film before watching, though. It's impossible to replicate the experience of watching a movie for the first time, unspoiled. The second time will be pretty much the same anyways.
 
The Martian - 8/10

A good film, I liked the humor of it, and the scientific realism of it, I imagined Matt Damon being the main role that it would put me off a bit, but he did it very well and very true to the book that it was based on by Andy Weir. Ended up liking the film more than the book! (Would probably give the book version 7/10)
 
Saw the movie & loved it . Matt Damon was great in it . Haven't gotten the book yet . Are you saying it not as good ? .

I think the book is better, but tastes differ.
It's hard to tell sometimes with me, as a lot of whether I like something or not depends on my frame of mind at the time. I wasn't in the most concentrated frame of mind while reading it, a bit distracted so that may be a factor why I didn't like it so much. It is still a good companion to the movie though if you like that, as it gives some more insight and information in to the characters frame of mind, for instance having read the book first, I think gave me more insight into the characters to be able to appreciate parts of the film better
 
Funny you say that. I like to do it the other way around. I see the movie first & then get the details from the book later 😀

It's been sitting in my Netflix list for a while so I decided to watch it. It's a good movie, reminds me of movies like The Girl Nextdoor and 21. A good kid gets caught up in something illegal but, in the end, twists it around to benefit himself. But instead of white kids in the suburbs, it's minorities in the ghetto. It's a good movie overall, there some narration that I don't like and it doesn't really fit. The ending is good and a little different. There're some comedy moments but it's not really a comedy nor a big drama.

It's very very good. I'll give it 10/10.

The camera using and pacing are all perfect. Unlike Memento/Batman, it did not rely on gimmicks. Just confident, skillful and smooth storytelling.

There was one moment where I was really shocked though.. at the club, when they were laughing about the smart bombs and going to do the deal and they got interrupted. (it's hard trying to avoid spoilers) That really shocked me.

I think it's a shame more people have not seen that movie.

The Prestige is my least favourite Nolan film. Think its something about magic on screen that just leaves me cold. Don't agree that Memento relies on a gimmick, think its a very tight, character driven and brillaintly acted and directed film. That and Batman Begins are his best films IMO.

The Factory Boss (2012) 8/10

A very finely judged drama looking at the tension between China and Western culture, and that between factory workers, their boss, and big business. Its an engrossing, and thought provoking film, with strong performances, and is very naturalistic. I also liked how the film didn't pick a side and gave all view points.
