Here and now, I suppose.
Okay, so recently in my game of "Follow the actor", Summer Glau edition, I watched the show Terminator: The Sarah Conor Chronicles, Which was incredibly fun after having never seen a terminator movie (I had to fill in a lot of blanks. It took me a long time to understand why the whiny teenaged boy was so important).

It's a pretty enjoyable show, and though it can take itself rather seriously at some points, eventually you forget it's weird to be talking about robots from the future sent to kill teeneaged boys, their moms, and their pet robots who are just doing their best.

Well, surprise, surprise, Cameron (Summer Glau) is my favorite, possible just because she is familiar, or also quite possible because while everyone else is emoting into the camera, she's over in the corner cradling baby turtles and never blinking. I just find that hilarious.

I do notice tho, everyone just, like, decides not to trust her? I mean, sure, she did try and kill a lot of people...once or twice, but when she isn't in destroy mode, especially in season 2, I just find it hilarious that she's just doing her best, and everyone is always like "SHE LOOKS SHIFTY LET'S BURN HER". Like, even when she's done literally nothing. Everyone is always like "Remember last year when she almost killed us, lol what if that happens again".

Also, more in season 1, I think it's hilarious that she poses as John's sister, but whenever "their" mom (Sarah) is asked about her, she's like "Yeah, I don't really care about Cameron, she's fine". Like, several times, Cameron has been called into the counceling office, or when they went to the family therapist, and the councelors/therapist is like "I don't think your daughter is okay????" Sarah is always like "Shhhh, no, I wanna talk about John".

I'm closing in on the end of the show, and I'm currently at the part where....John has just suffered a loss (to avoid spoilers) and Cameron has that weird twitchy hand thing going on. I dunno what's gonna happen, but I gotta say, everyone but John hates Cameron right now, and I dunno how they'll get around that.

On a completely seperate note, I find the plotline surrounding Cameron really interesting, and I'm sad it seems they won't explore it very much more. The whole concept of what is means to be human...I love it when shows do that. The end of the Ballet episode was really really creepy and cool, and unfortunately I feel like they might not have time to really give that plotline any more time, because they have the main plot to address.

Anyways, now that I've said my piece, anyone else seen the show? Thoughts???

I was super into it when it was airing and have been meaning to do a rewatch 🙂! I'm Terminator trash tbh. T2 was one of my favorite movies as a kid and on the strength of pretty much that film alone and just the overall concept which I find intriguing I'll go see every movie and be excited about it no matter how terrible they get (and they get... p terrible lol). But yeah, I remember really liking the series a lot and I loved Summer Glau in it in particular - it took me a while to warm up to Lena Heady as she's no Linda Hamilton, but I liked the kid who played John from what I remember. Brian Austin Green as Derek Reese actually became my favorite character - I was unprepared for how good he was considering the only other thing I had seen him in was 90210 so that image of him was p stuck in my head when I heard he was joining the cast, but then from his first scene onwards I was like, yes, ok, he's perfect, let's goooooooo!

That’s super awesome! I do wanna watch some of the terminator movie (cuz, classic)…which ones do you recommend most?

I have watched the series twenty or so times, I've seen it that many times I tend to notice all the mistakes, errors and the plain stupidity of the script and the director.
For example how thick are the FBI, references are made to Myles Dyson being shot by Sarah Connor even though the police shot him. The thick as a brick FBI agent who thinks of the Terminators as demons despite umpteen items of proof to otherwise. Or how Sarah Connor can cause the Terminators to keep following them. It would be good to have a remake of the show, one where the stupid errors are removed and well thought out reasons are used instead.

The first two for sure! The third one (Rise of the Machines) is probably the worst imo but from what I remember it basically gets retconned anyway so no big to miss. I actually think 3 had a decent idea behind it but it was just so appallingly executed it's best to forget it exists lol. I actually liked Terminator Salvation (the 4th one) for the most part but it's very different in tone as we're in the future with John (although he's not yet the kind of Christ figure he becomes) and the story revolves around a new character entirely which understandably bugged folks. I feel like this one got bagged on a bit in general, but I remember feeling like it was a fairly solid entry - It was supposed to kick-off a new trilogy that never happened so it kind of ends up being superfluous, so unless you're curious or interested in what the trailer is putting down you can skip this one too. Terminator Genisys (5th one) I only saw once and also thought it was terrible - Emilia Clarke is super miscast as Sarah and the dude they cast as Kyle is a chemistry vacuum. I don't remember much of it except it felt to me like a really cynical cash grab into the universe, but it's an alternate reality story anyway (and super fanfic-y but not in a good way), so you could also ignore this entry without missing anything. Dark Fate, The 6th one, came out a few years ago and it's the only one that picks up directly after the events of T2 and I remembered really liking it a lot - Linda Hamilton is back, but also Mackenzie Davis joins the cast and I kind of love her so bonus! So, yes, basically T1, T2 (Judgement Day) and T6 (Dark Fate) are the real trilogy in terms of the original story and they're all really good with T2 just being hands down one of the best sequels and action movies ever made in general. So excited to hear what you think! I swear the Terminator franchise for whatever reason just has me - same with the X-Men - I don't care how bad the movies get I am always 100% here for it lol.

Okay, I’m totally hyped to watch them now!
The show was getting better, so of course FOX cancelled it. 😏

Yeah, Fox really has a bad rep for taking away our toys.

Is Fox and Fox News run by the same folk 'cos they are both severely lacking in the good truth of whatever.
I watched it around the time it aired but I can’t really remember much of it to be honest.
Think I thought it was okay at least. lol

Now I kinda want to do a re-watch though.

You totally should! Might not be a masterpiece of cinema, but it’s a fun show to at least kill time, and honestly, some of the themes, metaphors and spirituality they use??? Really cool. I love the whole idea of “what is it that makes us human?”
That's one thing you can say about the TV series, it has a reasonable ending. The films, for all the money they made totally failed at presenting a quality ending. Summer Glau was obviously the reason for the actual ending.

Honestly, while I’m really sad they didn’t make more, the ending was pretty good. Yes, it had me jumping and groaning pitifully that there wasn’t more, but we got a happy Summer Glau and a happy doggo sitting right next to eachother, so really what more could you ask for?

for reals though, I am fairly content with the ending. It’s a strong one, that left it open for more, and yet it wasn’t so tragic or upsetting that the viewer was left feeling devastated. It was hopeful.

I hadn’t liked that they killed off Alison, (she seemed really interesting) so I’m glad they canonically brought her back, even if it was right before they went down, haha.

...... references are made to Myles Dyson being shot by Sarah Connor even though the police shot him. .....
I always took that to mean Skynet and/or its agents were altering records. Police shooting Myles doesn't help Skynet. Sarah shooting Myles puts her even more firmly in people's crosshairs. After all, Dyson's body probably sustained enough damage in the explosion that it would be hard to tell what really happened.

Yeah, as someone who just watched the series (and hasn’t seen any Terminator movies because I’m lame) I thought they were altering records so that she’d be wanted.
Only seen one episode in my class once. I quite enjoyed it, not sure anyone else in the class did 😉 I do want to check out more. It had Summer Glau and Shirley Manson in so why the bloody hell wouldn't I!

Haha, awesome! Out of curiosity…what class was it that they were showing you the Terminator show??? (You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, I’m just curious)

Well I was doing a film and media degree so it was something related to that. I can't remember what the class was on now. If I had to guess something like gender or media?

Oh cool. That makes sense! I was just wondering…out so all the shows what kinda class would pick a random Terminator show? But that’s pretty awesome.
